Path of Exile - Map Hack

So, since the data is uploaded to your client as we explore, we wont see a map hack with the "full map showing" feature?

Map hack would be really unfair in races =X to the point it determinate winner.

But of course would save us some annoying time trying to find ourselves in west side of act2.
From what I've heard, the full map data (the map layout) is downloaded to the client, the mobs (and chests, cairns, pots, etc.?) are streamed from the server as you move around the map. A full map hack would be possible (regarding entrances, exits and waypoints) but wouldn't be able to tell you where rare mobs and large mob packs are, for example.

That would be enought for me.
Helping me to find entrances/wp in short races is what I want!
Map hack should be a feature...
Anyone promoting map hacks, willing to use map hacks, etc, simply want the game to be easier or gain an advantage through exploitation. Similar to boosting, it's clearly not intended. Map hacks will completely ruin the game for me. It's no different to wallhacks in games like quake or counter strike.

Disregard witches, aquire currency.
i thought GGG encouraged the finding of exploits and hacks so that they could fix it... thats why the packets sent are currently unencrypted even

yes because it is closed beta. they would prefer we found these things before OP. that doesn't mean they allow maphacks.
Well from my experience with online gaming and seeing plenty of hacks, I can tell you this-

Any time data is sent to the client there should be no expectation that this data will remain private in memory, a person with enough RCE programming knowledge will be able to access this and use it in such a manner as is described here, it is just a question of time and motivation. This is a fundamental cornerstone of game development and GGG devs are no doubt well aware of this.

This is a fact of online gaming and it exists in every game where the client is receiving data for the private functions. From a game designer's view, it is important to find a balance between the performance of the game client and the security of the client. From what I can tell, GGG has done this well so far but the real test will be OB. Obviously, not everything in the game can or should be server-side and we'll see some client hacks pop up, but don't panic about it. I think they will find a way to marginalize their impact on gameplay.

A map hack showing entrances and such would be mildly useful while progressing through the game. Once you hit the farming stage though, I don't think it would be very useful. For me, at least, the point becomes "slaughter everything", not "find the quickest route to some objective".

However, I'd gladly and without any guilt whatsoever use a client side hack that removes darkness in some maps. Not being able to see isn't atmospheric. It's annoying.
Old minions never die... they just wander off and abandon you right before you run into a pack of angry monkeys.
