Can my friend run this game decently?
My buddy and I are trying to find a new game to play, and we're thinking about jumping into this game. But his (crappy) computer really can't handle most modern games well, he can run things that run on everything like League of Legends and World of warcraft, but he can't run Rift or Guild wars 2 on his current computer. Until he replaces his computer His computer is

Install it and boot to the main menu. If it runs at a solid framerate, you'll be fine.

That's a good idea, but then where would I be able to download it without paying for the beta access yet?
Edit: Ahh I found a place to download it, convinced him to give it a try, but is having it sit at just the menu screen enough though? Last edited by Botseks#7718 on Nov 12, 2012, 11:42:01 PM

Not without a graphics card.

" Not neccesarily; and especially not if you're partying with several casters. Solo I get 50+ FPS at 2560x1600 and everything but AA enabled (GTX 560). Partied I have to kill post-processing, shadows, and high textures, and still only get 20-30fps. I'd be skeptical about it working; but to find out you'll need to actually go beyond the login screen and try playing. If $10's too much to risk to find out, I'd suggest waiting until it's free to play (supposed to be next month). Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason? Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? " You might have something going on there because I'll run my game on high everything and get 50-60fps no matter how many people. My GTX470 is dying too. I might just be lucky. No tears. Only dreams now.

But to the OP's concern. If there is no graphics card and its running on integrated graphics. It's going to be pushing it in terms of "running it". This is game is crazy on the graphics per se, but when you get into huge mobs and large populated areas, most mediocre cards will be brought to their knees.
The cpu is fine and the RAM is ok as well but even getting an upgrade in RAM would be an inexpensive progression of his system that wouldn't any more than $30 given the age of the system. I'm sure it's DDR2 modules. The video card will be the main issue. Depending if there is one or not, since he can't play GW2 or Rift, a video card would be the first upgrade in my eyes. No tears. Only dreams now.

" It's ddr3. That's a sandy-bridge cpu/mobo, only 1 generation old. It's actually a very good low-budget cpu for gaming. It's just the lack of a dedicated gpu that makes the system unusable for gaming. IGN: Jerk, Princess

I see. Well even a GTX 650 ti or 7770 would do the trick and it'll run pretty much anything. Maybe not on high all the time but for the money, you can't beat it.
No tears. Only dreams now.

I have an i5 quad core, 4gb of ram and 512 dedicated video memory and the game only runs somewhat acceptably for me. Normally alright unless there is a lot of stuff on the screen. (can't party with or play a summoner witch)
