GGG seems to agree with OP, the new Archives look like the Duke's Archives from DkS and the giant skellies are straight from the Tomb of Giants.
Next step for GGG, make a game with DkS gameplay and PoE itemization |

You did not just say that another game compared to Dark Souls!!
I really love Path of Exile and it is by far the best ARPG game I have played, but in no way does it compare to the awesomeness that is Dark Souls and Demon Souls. Furthermore, Path of Exile is not hard in the same way that Dark Souls is but rather a question of farming enough before you enter certain fights. |

Not really. Dark Souls doesnt rely on artificial difficulty in order to keep the gameplay dangerous.

Please the difficulty in PoE is a fucking joke. If you removed desync from the game than there would be hardly any deaths.
Lets look at all of the ways that PoE is baby-mode easy *95% of path of exile involves spamming the ability on trash mobs and occasionally drinking a potion and moving backwards while you heal up. Even the rare mods on maps work like this. Complicated dodging, pattern, reaction, and twitch skills are only really required on a handful of uniques in the game (notably the act end bosses). even these few challenges its possible to just face-tank 90% of the pattern with good gear *Poe requires no endurance or resource managament: All it takes is about 5 seconds to pop a town portal and get back 100% of your health and mana. Bill Rizer can't just magically go back to town to pick up a new spread shot whenver he loses one and Serious Sam can't pop into a magical portal whenever he uses up all of his ammo. In most games once you start to fail it snowballs out of control. You lose power-ups, you run low on resources, party members get knocked out, difficult to cure status elements get thrown on you and you must complete the level in a weakened state. In PoE you are at full power at all times and can rest yourself to full with just a simple scroll. *PoE encourage grinding: In plenty of games you can't grind at all (metal slug, f-zero gx) In some games you can grind but no enemies with any good loot respawn (witcher series, several first person dungeon crawlers). In some games you are punished for grinding (saga series has enemies scale with your own level, some rogue like games make it so if you spend too long killing respawned enemies it will start spawning overpowered monsters that you have no hope of killing. Some games do let you grind but have a hunger or stamina resource so the time you spend grinding could backfire. Some games make it so that anything you could gain from grinding doesn't power you up much (ys is a good example. You can grind 5 levels and the boss will do almost the same damage to you) In path of exile grinding is the standard solution for what to do if the game is too hard. *Unlimited potions: Do you know how many potions are in ys origin? exactly 1. If you start fucking in PoE just mash buttens 1-5 and run backwards. *Facetanking damage is a way of life: Go plays ninja gaiden and see how long you last face tanking damage . Even on the easiest difficulty the simpliest enemies will murder you if you dont learn to effefictily dodge attacks. In PoE we just stack tank stats and 90% of the enemies in the game are garbage *Enemies and slow are predictable and slow: Vaal's infamous hammer may be able to 1shot you but unless he gets a huge helping of desync theres no way he will ever hit you. Enemies in PoE follow simple patterns and the bosses attacks are broadcast well in advance. Even if you do get hit just use some of your infinite potions to heal it up. *The game gives you a huge fucking pile of get out of jail free cards: The heroes of final fight can do an aoe stun that grants them invunability any time but it costs them 10% of their max health. Shmups give you a stock of 3 bombs that wipe the screen clear of all bullets. Path of exile gives you -a totem that will draw away the attention of all enemies on no cooldown -a set of potions that give you nigh-god mode defensive stats ore remove any debuff that are instantly replaced by popping a tp scroll -a quick log out that removes you from harm -access to variety of self-teleporting moves that can let you escape from 99% of moves in the game -The ability to summon a billion pets that will all distract the enemy and make you never take any damage -town portal scrolls to fix everything -a gem set up that can automically give you a level 20 molten armor whenever you get hit -future hand holding to be added in patches *Twinking and Power leveling a way of life. Don't want to learn Pietys pattern? Just fork over 1 chaos and be done with it. Got yourself some samada gloves? Well if normel mode had any challenge to begin with its gone now. Your most difficult character in path of exile will be your first all other characters will be living off the wealth generated by the your first few. As long as you don't get unlucky desync, grind extensivily, stacky tanky, and develop a build that doesnt suck (if you have no imagination just run a sporker), you can bullshit your way through the game and reach maps. And dark souls isn't a difficult game either, if it was released even 2 generations ago it would be seen as an average difficulty. The game is also filled with a ton of baby mode concepts like letting you keep experience after you die. Modern games are just so terrible easy that when one that has even the slightiest challenge comes out it looks pretty difficult by compassion. Go play gradius 3 (the original arcade version) if you want to experience what a truely difficult experience is. Or if you want a moderately difficult arpg play ys on inferno difficulty Last edited by NotRegret#0188 on Oct 28, 2013, 7:04:04 AM
