POE is the Dark Souls of ARPG's. That means it's awesome ...

Long story short, awesome 3d action rpg with a high difficulty level which yields great satisfaction when succesful. It is never unforgiving to the point where it's unbalanced, more so a learning experience every time you fail.

I feel the same way about POE. Currently I am running Spark, Tempest Shield, Enfeeble,and that's about it ( Trying to get Conductivity, ps I am Domination US if you want to trade lol ). I went slow in some acts, really fast in others and started doing great the further I progressed into the passive skill tree. I have died many times and was forced to portal in and out of the Dominus normal instance ( solo ) several times just to get him down. In any other ARPG or Diablo for sake of arguement, normal is an absolute cake walk no matter what build/gear. There is a great sense of achievement when you do well in this game and I for one appreciate it's difficulty.

If this is a niche game then so be it. Look at Dark Souls 2, Namco Bandai did not give in to the masses and make some kind of triple A title easy peasy Assasins Creed ( No offense to that game, just not my cup of tea ) type nonsense. They stuck to their guns and stayed true to their ideals. By doing so they have created a new mindset in casual gamers and Dark Souls 2 is looking to be the most popular game of this current console generation.

My point being is this. I sincerely hope GGG sticks to their guns aswell. Future patches/upgrades is something I am really looking forward to. I think games and gamers are evolving, so much so that games like POE/Dark Souls will be on the forefront of popularity which is a good thing.

poe isnt too difficult unless youre talking about gear checks needed to do end game content.

dark souls is a masterpiece of an rpg and is hard to compare to something as different as poe. both are great games but for completely different reasons.

Coming from Diablo 3, this game is difficult. Especially if your not running op skills and builds. I respect your opinion though and I definitely agree DS is a masterpiece.

This game is easy for people who have played it for years know it inside and out and only have to learn the changes when new patches come out.

But for new players making builds on thare own it is very hard. Witch is perfect.


I loved getting my ass handed to me when i first started playing and it still happens when i undestimate the map mod's .

Almost all npc names from dark souls are taken in poe :)

Knowledge is power in this game. Of course you need items too but knowing the best way to spec passives and how to patch up weaknesses in your build with items & passives will make or break you. Also knowing how deadly certain situations can be will save you a lot of grief.

You can beat dark souls with a level 1 character as long s your predictive skills and reflexes are good enough.

You can not even clear poe end game content with a level 80 char with decent gear.

DS is a true and pure skill oriented game.

That's an insult to POE in my opinion haha...

Every aspect of Dark Souls is horrible. I don't get the appeal of getting killed over and over only to repeat the exact same area a dozen more times until you figure out the boss.

Some of the boss encounters are just down right cheap and infuriatingly stupid. Like that goat demon guy with the two swords that jumps on you as soon as you enter the portal, then his two dogs chase you around the level mercilessly while you fight with the camera to get a shot at anything at all. Game sucks.

You can say the same about dark souls. It isn't that hard once you know the locations of good weapons and how to handle the different mobs.

I can make a NG+ run in under 6 hours :P
