It's a give and take, really. It means you can't be killed by swords or guns unless they're made of silver. Plus you probably have cool abilities like turning into mist or wolves or bats, forcing mortals to have hallucinations, and controlling peoples' minds.

I do agree, though, that hydras and tarrasques have got a lot more going from them in the field of immortality.
