I thought my friends list would magically fill back up with people online, but it seems with the nerf to multiple builds in 1.0 my friends list is as empty as before 1.0.

I think this was a bad time for GGG to nerf everything.

What nerfs?

My witch got a HUGE buff.

Even Chris came out and said how amusing it is to see so many crying about nerfs to things that actually got net buffs.

Something something reading comprehension something something general discussion.
Another one talking out of his ass.

Do you know how many players used to play? No. Do you know how many players are playing now? No.

Steam is showing 25k players in game, I'd say that's a quite good number, especially since not everyone integrated with Steam.

No mod action. Business as usual.
i was really concerned before the patch and now my duelist (lvl 86, 1hsword/shield/reave, 5 auras before, 2 now, complete passive-overhaul) is much, much stronger than before.

but even that doesnt matter atm because im playing the great scion with the great spectral throw and am eager to see how she will perform in cruel a3 :D

end of story.

But somehow there are more people ingame now!? AMAZING!
It's almost like there are other people here, that is not in your circle of friends..

Really I dont see that at all. I can even tell by the trade boards its like 1/2 of what it was 2 weeks ago.

Look at general chat... the number of new players is astounding. Tons of questions flying all over the place. Its people like you that will run them off...

I'm not too worried, it's common knowledge in-game to advise new players to avoid these forums at all costs.
to me is kinda the end, none of my builds are working anymore, time for new builds.
the problem is, at least for me, that it took a lot of time to level them which I cannot do anymore, I don't have the time to do it all over again or the will to mindlessly grind hordes of desynched mobs just so the next patch burns them again to the ground.
it really seems that the devs don't really know what they want, one of the devs said at some point that they increased the level of end game areas so that the players can farm for their favourite unique outside maps, now they drop only in maps.
this in a game in which one is supposed to invest a sizeable amount of his free time.

P.S. event if there are hoardes of new players don't expect very many of them stcking around for long, all the players really interested in arpgs were here in cb or ob. most of the newcomers will be casuals which will disappear immediately after they hit "the wall".

Ity funny how the trade chats feels completely empty but there still seem to be 21 filled with players. Looks a lot like they reduced the amount of players for channel to make the game feel more alive.

They will not quit but rather do what the majority of the community has done since OB started. Whine as long as they have to for specific mechanics and skills to be changed. And as you can see, do it long enough and GGG gives into it.

Actually, now more things are OP as the rest were nerfed. Therefore creating a better balance which promotes playing different builds without feeling like they are pointless.

Nerfing the OP stuff doesn't make the tier 2 things that were left alone any stronger. The monsters didn't get any weaker. That strong but not overpowered build that is now top DPS doesn't kill stuff any faster than it used to.

TLDR: Taking all the OP stuff out of the game doesn't suddenly make the new top dog "OP".

If the old builds aren't op any more, the stuff below it is now op, in relative terms.

The term "over powered" is not relative. Subjective, yes. But it is a static term.

I don't think ggg modified much based on players whining, they look a statistical data for that, the only time I remember then giving up was when the penalties for death were modified
