Alpha - Insider Information

Thanks for this information, very interesting stuff. How often do you find bugs while alpha testing? You all seem to be doing a great job regardless because the finished product seems remarkably bug free.

Bugs are things which crop up on patch day and are fixed pretty quickly, the devs roll out these patches when they want player testing done, so it varies a lot. These two screenshots were from the same day, on a very substantial patch. You can thank the developers and QA team for 99% of all the bug fixes, we're just more critical eyeballs to them when they feel cocky and want to show off.

Bugs aren't the majority of what we report. The initial impression and pacing is also important. When something just doesn't "feel right", we start a discussion thread about it, rather than filing a bug. I am sad to say that my initial emotional reaction to a certain amount of dialog may have gotten a voice actor fired :(. I would say the game is better for the change though.

Most of my alpha testing involves standing in town next to Qarl.

That was actually Chris doing a funny voice. I think you hurt his feelings
good reading :-)
I guess there'll always be some folks who feel that Alpha Testers must be blinded (or killed) after testing, in order to keep the main game pure.

Good thing we were able to change Chris' mind about that li'l policy. =^[.]~=
