You've got a point there.
Hopefully with the incoming buff to acro, some players will try an acro HC build. That should be interesting. On a whole though, there are just too few shadows in HC :/ Build of the Week 14

" aye i suppose i'll have to refine that statement. The average level of shadows in HC are lower than the other classes, so it means that there are just too few high level shadows in HC. That said i've noticed more shadows getting into merci lately. that's always good! Build of the Week 14

im really hoping on wednesday the patch notes for acrobatics will read "we gave a huge buff to all the nodes near acrobatics...and then we doubled it",
Soujiro is spoton, it is the hardest thing in the world to get a true melee shadow working without absurd gear (invalesco, the stuff you have is basically unattainable for the normal player). A keystone on the very far right of the skill tree converting all or some of the dex linking nodes to strength nodes is the only way to make a pool of strength which is the basis for hp builds. Sadly, evasion is always gonna be bust for pve, but pvp will be veryyy different i think. |

I admit that botw shadow had absurd gear. it's kinda overkill though actually tbh. U don't really need much DPS to succeed in maps.
In all honesty though, is my HC shadow's gear really considered absurd? I managed to get it within 30-40 hours of gameplay in a Fresh economy. All you need is some trade know-how and experience in crafting/playing. I imagine most new shadow players who want to go for melee CI hardly take any life nodes at the start and go straight for ES nodes. therein lies their problem i think. at least, it was the way i used to play before when i first started you're right, evasion will be very useful in pvp. i'm still hoping someone can make it work in pve. hopefully the coming acrobatics buffs will help that Build of the Week 14

" I'm wondering if thats why my Caster builds keep dieing? I always go straight for the ES nodes then grab CI around lvl 40 or so if I've enough ES gear. Messed around with evasion on this ranger I tried making caster...died a quick and painless death at lvl 32 last night to one of those worm mother's in Sunken Cavern..got blasted by two rapid cold/frost breath attacks. Probably should not have gotten past norm Vaal honestly though. 1700 or so Evasion Rating, about 54% evade chance but only 300 health and terrible resists even siding with Kraityn. (like 5% cold resist, 2% fire and 20% lighting) Totally going to look at grabbing health early on from here on out. Evasion is like playing russian roulette...unless you are capped resists. Edit: What about just stacking up on Stats? I mean it seems that stacking Dex would be just as effective as grabbing evasion passives. With each level up without a significant gear upgrade my evasion kept dropping as it was. Last edited by Cordite#6242 on Oct 30, 2012, 7:14:49 PM

" ya you should always stack life in the beginning and then respec into CI later on. Evasion is fine as long as you have high HP. If you have low HP, evasion is the worst thing for you. 300 hp is very low. I usually get at least 550 hp and max >65 fire and light resists before attempting normal vaal. Each 5 Dex points grant you 1% extra evasion. But if your base evasion rating is low, 1% won't grant you much extra evasion Build of the Week 14

" Indeed, I think the problem lies with people seeing various passive builds lying around on the forums and not realizing that these builds have refunded many points over the course of leveling. No one who plays HC will ever ignore HP/ES nodes, you cannot do it, period. Too many posters are not letting people know that they MUST pick up the extra HP nodes until later on in the game when they feel their ES will be good with CI and they can refund the points from HP to put elsewhere. I see far too often, alot of very good builds being posted, but, never explaining that this was not the build they used from the very beginning. The best build posts I have seen are ones that state clearly how to build up the passive tree from the beginning to the end game. And other examples where people have posted their builds at specific levels, for example, 28/48/60 etc. These are the important details that most people need to be seeing, "new players or inexperienced ones". It is why so many people are dying at early levels. |

" Only 2 shadows in top 80 in HC, think this proves the point very simply, hence why they recently did the buff to the shadow tree. |

I got the most problems in HC with crowds of monsters.
Especially in the Ship Graveyard when 10 mobs with Flicker Strike attack at the same time. You cant do anaything against them by Using a melee char. i was on 370Hp and every kind of resist >40% and 50% evasion and i survived like 5 seconds without running away.... What is to do in that situation ? |
