I think yes, desync will be a game killer, because you can't seriously play HC with it...
Its very unfortunate. I like the game, and i play only HC.
But when i'm thinking of PoE's future my feelings could be described by phrase of agent Smith: "i will enjoy watching you die, mr. Anderson"

I just don't get why desync is such an issue with POE. No other online games seems this bad. I mean does diablo have the same type of code where monsters etc are on their server and your char is local? I never once had any desync issues in D3 not even close. Combat was always flawless apart from lag every so often that happens to every game. I can literally hit /oos every 15 seconds and every time mobs move like crazy. It is not like they were a centimeter off, it's like they are 5 ft off my character. How can it possibly get that out of sync in 15 seconds? IDK

It's the result of (rather) complex game mechanics coupled with poor coding. Bottom line: it can't be fixed, the simulation (what you see on your screen) will always go out of sync with the real game (what happens server side).
Fixing it would require a total overhaul of the game engine/mechanics, and GGG seems to not have the resources needed to do such a thing. Either way, they already milked the cow in beta and now in final release. There will be some extra content added, people will play and then move on.
Shame this will be remembered only as "Path of Exile", a good game with a sad, frustrating flaw that held it back from greatness.

LMAO you got no idea about desync. Most of the people crying about desync got a shitty internet connection or living in a country with a horrible internet infrastructure. And before you say desync got nothing todo with you connection lat me correct you! you are dead wrong matter infact the slower you client receive information the more you will desync. So yea GGG cant fix the internet or fix you countries horrible internet infrastructure.
If you want to experience poe without any desync move to south korea,Sweden, Denmark. I live in denmark and got 0 desync issues.
So again you a complet ignorant fool who got no idea what desync i and how to prevent it

Germany, 16k-DSL connection, 40-50ms (+ 60fps via Vsync) ping constantly - DESYNC.
And every Online-Shooter doesn't have so much fucking desync and there you notice desync even more.

LMAO, in order to get people to reply, you should master the use of white (or in this case black) space, kid.
But I'll make an exception this time. Boy, you're telling me that you've 0 latency to the server? Zero, nothing, nada? Of course not.
There are a lot of ignorant fools like you who live in denial and see no desync at all. Keep it up kiddo, and don't forget your pills.

as convincing as your "argument" is, I was under the impression that there was something about the way they coded, along with security features they implemented to stop hacking that was the cause of the bulk of the desync. I've played a lot of online games and POE is by far the worst. Of course I have times where my internet goes crazy, but that happens in all games.

You learn to avoid desync after a time.
The guy on the first few pages talking about knowing what happens when you desync is correct. You also anticipate what actually is going on.
Also, this game isn't designed to run glass cannon effectively, so you should be building enough defenses to be able to handle a the couple of seconds it takes to /oos.
Certain skill combinations are well known to cause desync, Multistrike is notorious for it. ESPECIALLY if you link MS to repositioning/movement skills like Flicker.

I have a 100/100mbit connection, <40 ping, 60+ fps and I still get desynced. You're the clueless one here.
