Well, POE finally killed my Mac!!!

Have you tried GRUB? I find it to be the best solution to boot windows alongside Linux. you can ofcourse boot macs alongside the other two aswell.

Protip - Dont buy a Mac.

Theyre terrible computers, my parents have one of those $3500 all in ones, its terrible. Cant even play games on medium settings. Theyre over priced pieces of junk, i speak from experience of buying one.

Either build or buy pre-built with windows.

If you want to run modern games on max or even high you should expect to spend around 750 or more. Apple charges thousands for out of date parts just because brand name.

I bought an Alienware x51 months ago on sale, i can play any game on max without any issues and without even overclocking it, its easily the cheapest and best prebuilt you can buy. I run POE on max at 100+ FPS at all times, Crysis 3 60+ FPS while recording on max, etc.

And before people start hating on alienware, yes their laptops and desktops are overpriced, however after trying the x51 personally, id glady say its fairly priced for a prebuilt that works soo well.

I believe i spent $1000 on this x51, 2tb ssd, GTX 660, 16G RAM, Bluray, etc. Was a really good deal at the time, would of spent about the same building one, i love alienware cases soo i decided to buy pre-built than built this time. Youll spend upwards of 200+ for a nice case and doing the lightings yourself.

Feel free to checkout some reviews on it, also if youre looking to buy a new computer, i highly recommend saving up a large sum and splurging soo you dont have to update it for atleast a few years.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Labyrinth salt farm miner.

"But my build diversity" , "Game is too hard!" - Meta drone playing the same 1-3 builds for years.

Yeah, I just found this while researching a build...
http://www.pcworld.com/article/2054663/how-to-build-a-killer-windows-8-1-gaming-pc-for-under-1000.html#tk.rss_all

Building seems interesting and a good way to learn.
Edit---- wow, x-51 looks perfect...small footprint, size of a console. Great reviews. Thx for that tip.

I wouldn't trust anyone who recommends windows 8 over 7, unless you were building a gaming smartphone lol.

Windows 7 does seem to be the best route from everything I have read so far.

I never understood why Media people choose Mac over PC.

Is there some amazing program on Mac that people use?
I figure it cant be better hardware, because you can buy superior components at a cheaper price for a PC.

I'm not trolling, I genuinely don't see the appeal.
Wife wanted a Mac once, because they were cool.

I went to the Apple site, checked out a system ($3200) I think was the total.
Then I found the same parts for a PC and couldn't break $1700. At that point I decided that I would never even consider a Mac.

But people will choose what they choose, so let people choose what they want to choose.

It has been a combination of many things over time including Final Cut Pro and the h264 format that are both non-issues now. Back in the 90's graphics programs for graphic designers were easier to use on macs. But if I have to be honest and it really is no small thing it's the UI. It is a much smoother and clean option and when you are already juggling many tasks tweaking creative content you want the tools you use to be as simple as possible. There is also the plug and play aspect which most Mac users in creative fields enjoy because we tend to be a bit clunky when it comes to computers. The programs we use already have steep learning curves and it seems pointless to have to tweak PCs to your needs. Macs hold our hands so we can concentrate on other more important things.

I tend to find people, at least people I've known IRL, chose an inferior, yet overpriced mac because it, I quote, "looks cute", "OMG MAC OSX IS SO GOOD (yeah, right)", "I can't use windows", "I need a laptop". I generally find the people with macs are technologically ignorant, usually females, or use their computers for artistic editing (ie. images, videos, etc.). I never figured out WHY exactly they want a mac for the purpose of editing media, but if they want to shell out 1k+ more euros for a cuter shell, I'm not there to stop them (Well, I always try).

Also, to the OP, if you are in the process of getting a new PC, I highly suggest sticking to Windows 7 over the new, incredibly awkward to use Windows 8. In addition to this, build your PC yourself, or get a friend/building service to build it for you. It will ALWAYS be a lot cheaper than buying a pre-built model from a store. It'll also most likely land you better performance, since you get to hand pick parts instead of relying on store-built models.
LOL computers cant "break down" they are not cars. Mac user logic "takes a toll" seriously?

Unless you overclock computers won't break down like that
