EDIT: Should MF diminishing returns be a secret?

Obviously I'm absolutely clueless as to why the formula wouldn't be made public.

It is my pleasure.
Bump. I agree that this should not be a secret. I have not seen any dev give any kind of reasoning for why they would keep this a secret.

There is absolutely no reason to keep anything secret in a game like this. The only thing "mysterious" about these numbers is the myths people create around them. It's shameful.
+1

Id much rather a hard cap on mf. If that cant be done I want pretty clear info about how diminishing returns works, at what stage its kicking in and at what stage its not worth stacking more.

They would save themselves a lot of trouble by just capping it, rather than virtually capping it but not quite which just leaves all the problems people had with dedicating almost all their slots to mf and ending up spork/ranger. If you dont know when and how the d-returns kick in it doesnt solve anything, it may cap your drops but in terms of play you still feel you have to play your mf character, have to dedicate every slot to mf gear. Its just a shit idea, cap it and let us see the cap on the character sheet or give a very detailed explanation about how the returns are being diminished, basically tell us where the soft cap is (at which point you might as well just cap it).
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
I guess why this thread confuses me, is because mf has had diminishing returns all along. And yet, no one ever made threads about it. Demanding to know the actual numbers.

This isnt like some new mechanic being implemented. So, for those that feel knowing it is mandatory, why haven't you posted about it before?

Great question. I also wondered why I had not seen anyone complaining or asking about this. I guess I didn't want to be that one lone person complaining about it, lol. Figured there must be a reason for it for why no one seemed to care.

When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

This was a recent thread discussing the upcoming changes to MF correct?

So, out of 9(?) months, no one really discussed it til now.....
I'd say it wasn't discussed as much because it wasn't well known. Where on magic find does it mention it has diminished returns?

There are bigger issues with the game which is why people knowledgeable on the subject probably don't flame the forums about it, and then there are people who don't magic find, and people who just don't care.

But I can't think of a SINGLE good reason to keep the DR formula hidden now that the mechanic is out in the open, plastered as part of a fix to magic find on a news post.

The bottom line is this. Magic find is being nerfed. People deserve to know how much so they can adjust their gear sets accordingly.
