hope this can help u
http://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1osqyx/new_players_from_steam/ " apparently from what i understand they are firstly dealing with all the localization thing before bringing it to steam so yeah i think u will have to deal with the official website , thing which really , doesnt seem like a problem at all to me. " Ok I get it, as always "we tried our best, you know the rest". Most current players don't need this localization at all. Yeah not a problem, but I don't understand why I can't play the game through steam like all other world. Why it so difficult to let English speaking people use steam right now despite where your region is? Thanks anyway. Last edited by MCSMvsME#0476 on Oct 20, 2013, 8:13:05 AM

I'm concerned about this as well. I like all my game in one place. Plus there are many social features which come with Steam.
It's really awkward to restrict a particular country access to the game because of localization. IGN: Iworkeout

" by releasing your game over steam you as a company support DRM and region restrictions. that's what this distribution platform is for beside selling information about players to merchandizing companies. and offering games of course. you get alot but you also pay alot which you may not notice if you only play free games on steam. i strongly support hilberts doubts about steam. and having everything neat and tidy in one place has the consequences of all being lost at once if the bussiness closes. this is capitalism, nothing is forever, not even valve. edit: ok, made it clear that i don't like steam, will stop ranting about them. i just like to question ggg's ethics and points of view from time to time. as long as this game isn't steam only which would result in certain microtransactions like decaptivating helmet or gore effects surely can't be purchased in germany, i'm fine. but my guess is, if ggg runs out of money, the first step to reduce download costs is to go "steam only". it will be free to play but just not for everybody under the same conditions. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill! It is sad the GGG went for the typical "reservations" route utilised by MMOs, instead of just providing a localisation and the ability to choose which language the game will use, like all other ARPGs.
It really blows that people who don't want to play in local reservation (due to awful community) won't have an option to play the Steam version. Also, if the publisher you chose in Russia is Mail.ru - your local servers are as good as dead already. This company is probably the worst possible choise you can make, yet it somehow manages to get the contracts, which typically kills the game which they are publishing locally. " LOL? Because I have over 200 games and 100 friends on my account and I can easily communicate with them while playing the game? Because I don't wanna deal with patching games and I want it to be done by itself? Because the games are really cheap there and I like supporting companies? Because I want to show my friends what kind of games I like? Because I like to check who played what? Because I don't like using paypal and steam wallet seems as easier choice? Because I play a lot of steamworks game? And a lot of other shits... It's 2013 and there are people who still argue about the benefits of Steam. Jesus... |

" Pretty much this. Been on Steam for 4 years now, over two different accounts and have never had any problems whatsoever with Steam. It's the only reason I've found some games such as Prison Architect and Democracy - which were really great games - and if there's one reason above all else - Steam Workshop for games like Civilization 5 and Skyrim are reason enough to have it - so simple and easy to use. |
