Boosting in default begins

At the end of the day i suppose we can always keep going on about this but unless GGG actually acknowledges this or even respond then there is no point so i guess it will be a case of if you cant beat them at there own game then cheat them at it.

Pretty crap that it has gone this far unless it is the way GGG intended and if so they wont mind how to do it being posted on the forum then everyone has the same chance.

I mean it is only fair. Whats good for 1 is good for all.

Be looking at a lot more level 1's in Merci in the near future.

They are aware, it's been discussed in Alpha quite a bit.

A good solution is to introduce a new hazard to act 2. A poisonous mist that does light chaos damage while you stand in it, but is lethal enough to kill a low level character. CI+EB characters would still be fine as they're chaos immune, but low level characters would choke and die. The mist could be present in the ancient pyramid and vaal ruins, doing appropriate damage at each difficulty/level area.

please no. vaal ruins/ancient pyramid are already painful enough with all the chaos damage in them to normal characters without having a chaos dot the whole time (boosted characters never even enter the zones until the boss room for the final 2 seconds anyways).

If you impose level limits, they will just level those characters to the limit and still use them. level 40, or even level 60 to the super hardcore is 1-2 days tops and in the grand scheme of things that is nothing. This might work for 1 week races, but over the course of a month or longer its meaningless.

I do like the averaging party members levels idea. If a level 60 and a level 1 were in a party, the average level of the party would be 30 and neither player would get exp in a high level zone.

Another method could include a /players command like the one d2 single player had (I know it wasn't in battle.net) that would let you specify party members and eliminate any need to have extra clients/accounts. Then anyone who wanted to up the difficulty/drop rates could do it solo if they wanted. You'd still have to be able to do the damage to make it work.

Edit: BTW this is a big issue even in HC. It is quite a bit harder to get them to merciless, but people are definitely doing it. It is quite easy to notice on ladder tracker as the majority of the deaths show up at level 1. I seriously doubt that many people have trouble getting off the beach.

In all honesty though, ppl don't really care much abt boosting outside of races. And races tend to last 1 week or 2 weeks longest, at least before this legacy migration

Being discussed in alpha quite a bit is great news but why is there nothing being done about it.

Getting sick of watching players gaining 2 to 3 levels a day in default at above level 74 something is not quite right there.

Basically the week and month race is an absolute shambles.

What in effect GGG have done is basically gifted the original top 10 of the week race with 2 Demigods neckies.(nothing against this but when there is boosting going on then it kinda defeats the point).
So why not say fuck it and even the field for when OB starts and give everyone a neckie.

You know it is happening You know who is doing it and yet you still do nothing about it.

Good work there.

Its only money. May as well spend it here.

first of all we must remember that GGG is a small group of ppl that can only do so much at a time. and where this "boosting" is on there radar it is not game breaking at the moment, therefore they are trying to get things done that need to be done so we can go to OB. that being said it may also be that rather then make some codes now to put into the game before act 3 is in they maybe just be waiting to fix this in a one shot deal once they put in act 3 to save time on having to redo code(remember they are only 19 ppl).

plus its not like everyone in the top 10 is doing this, yes maybe one or two are but mostly from what i've seen here its some of the top 10 that are the most mad about this, so you know its not all of them that do this.

what they should do IMO is in act 2 towards the end make a lv requirement for one of the quests just like d2 did with the Ancients quest. i know there where hackers that got around this but dont think with POE severs you cant do that here. they could make it so you cant put the ammy in place until your of a certain lv. per say . so then each lv of difficulty you would have be a certain lv to finish that quest. but i wouldnt make it to high as to kill friends rushing other friends.
its simple to fix and im sure GGG will fix it by OB but frist things first IMO.

Since reasonable topics of discussion include "what to do about it" and "does this idea work in practice" it's entirely possible they are doing something about it and just don't want to say anything publicly until it's done.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

not everyone is doing this because there are like 1000 accounts online

but in OB there will be 20x,50x,100x more accounts who knows and your two ppl will suddenly become 100 (and that excludes chinese gold farmers) - they will take the races over to the point you wont be able to compete unless you run multiple accounts - so it is a huge issue because it screws one of the most important aspects of the game - a race.it needs to be adressed before OB otherwise poe will develop the reputation of a game for cheaters - good luck getting rid of that after launch

id hapily wait a month longer for OB if this issue was taken care of

Dead lowbies still give the boost.

What does this mean?? I thought as soon as you died you were automatically teleported back to city hub. So from this discussion, and if I understand all of this correctly, if you're a lvl 20 or 20+ and bring in an alt to play on, you will get larger drops and more rares/uniques??? Sorry but I always play solo, ARPG game, and it just never occurred to me to waste time with these things. It may also explain to me as to how, when the ladder first opened up, people were zone zipping so quickly. I was reading in global chat, "so-n-so is the first to reach such-n-such region or level." I'm still in normal on the twilight strand or mudflats and thinking to myself "how the hell did they get there so fast??!! Am I missing out on something?? Or playing the game wrong??" I just don't get it....

I used to boost in default, but then I took an arrow to the face

plz dont miss quote me by only putting up one line of what i wrote!! if you read my whole post you would see that im all for fixing this and do believe it will be fixed by OB.

what we need is a little more faith in GGG and some patience to let them do the things they need to do. they do know about "boosting" and will make some kind of fix for it
