There is a bug or intentional code in POE's random number generator that is causing streakiness.
" Your fixation on numerology and "special" combinations of digits is as irrelevant to statistics as it is to PoE's RNG. But really, in the face of such startling "coincidences", how you could miss the underlying astrological implications of these findings is just incomprehensible. As for examples of your reckless accusations, one doesn't have to look any farther than the title of this thread: "There is an error in POE's random number generator that is causing streakiness." |

" Let's make this a real comparison that sounds more like the arguments I'm hearing as far as the game goes. If over the course of my life, I bought 350 million tickets. How likely would it be that I would win the jackpot twice? I bought twice as many tickets as the odds to win, so I should be guaranteed to have won twice. If I don't win at all, does that mean something is suspicious? Guild Leader The Amazon Basin <BASIN>

ITT: People who don't understand statistics properly arguing that there is 'order' in 'chaos'

Also ITT: People who don't understand that random number generators are not truly random.
Also ITT: People who don't know anything about GGG's RNG claiming that it is 100% random with no influencing factors. Ignorance is ignorance no matter which side you're on. Nobody knows, and nobody will know until GGG says so. Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Sep 16, 2013, 9:44:15 PM

It's actually pretty funny to see one group of people simply giving feedback on their impressions of the rng system based on gameplay time and a second argue that the rng system is pure based on them having never seen the actual code.

" GGG have said they have faith in their RNG system. If you believe otherwise, feel free to bring the details to them, and I am sure they would check the situation out. But personally, i trust GGG to be using a reliable RNG, and as such the 'un random' portion should be significantly small to the point that it doesn't really influence the outcomes. And also I understand that true random or not, sample size of ONE person will not be a significant enough sample if there are 1,000 users playing at once, and each has an 'action' every 2-3 seconds. If we increased this to 1,000,000 then you would need weeks of straight play to be able to begin to reach the 'confidence' value regarding RNG, and even then it would still not be a high confidence |

So, Real_Wolf, where is the quote from GGG saying that their RNG system has no influencing factors?
They said they have faith in it working properly. They gave you no details about how it works. For all we know it could have SIGNIFICANT factors at play, but working correctly. You know nothing about the RNG system. Nobody in this thread does. Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Sep 16, 2013, 10:28:45 PM

Yeah, it's not so much that we are 100% sure there is nothing wrong with the RNG. It's that we are 100% sure that the people who claim there is have such flimsy evidence based on what 0.9% of the total players say they saw in 0.001% of the Piety runs that it's not even worth considering. My Piety run number is just an estimate :)

" What has happened is the game has died down, what is left is GGG fanboys and people like me that have enjoyed the game but can still point out faults and things in the game that are down right broken. The fanboys attack anyone that says anything negative about the game, like rabid dogs. This is why I have said at this point beta feedback is pointless. Fanboys have forgotten this game is still in beta, I dont think they even realize what they are doing. | |
" Of course they don't, they're fanboys. People who realize what fanboys are doing aren't going to lower to the level of fanboy. Note: I'm not calling anybody in this thread a fanboy. Last edited by Xendran#1127 on Sep 16, 2013, 10:38:32 PM
