PoE 2 servers are restarting in: .
They should be back up in approximately .Think this is better than Diablo III?
I would say yes it is better than D3, this game is more like Diablo 2.5 and some says its the next Diablo Game.
I though D3 would be great, but it seem going backward and even worst than Diablo Series. The only things is good in Diablo 3 is the graphics, cinemas and physics, the rest is garbages included the AH! |

Are you kidding? Auction house was one of the best features in D3.
Only the real money stuff ruined it, making it slightly pay to win. But I wouldn't call this game better than D3. D3 has superior presentation/graphics and an auction house. I spent many hours searching the auction house for the best/cheapest items, to improve my char, like a girl buying new shoes. What made D3 fail were things like: - Lack of multiplayer features/competition, like: group gear grinding, pvp, eight player groupsizes (compared to D2) - Auto queue: no freedom to join the games u want - No/Limited replayability/skill tree: respecs and uber simplified skills tree ruined things These things made D3 fail. In short they made the game more "Solo-grind-Sandbox-style" , with hardly any socialization required to make progress in the game. Anyone who disagrees with me is a noob btw, seriously... But Solo grinding is desired for casual gamers nowadays, since most hardcore gamers got married etc with kids. And developers kind of design games to be more "Solo grindy" on purpose. Concerning Path of Exile, hire a graphics artist/designer you guys...for starters.. |

Your mind set makes me sad.
You realize d3 was built around the auction house. You must also realize that the rest of the game becomes an arcade centered around money. You must also realize their goal was to make money off the auction house. So we are playing auction house tycoon and you forgot what a real video game is. Xbox 360- Isonul

" this games graphics are just fine... if you want AAA rated graphics go play a AAA rated game... this game was made by 18 people from the grit of their knuckles. they wrote ALL the code of this game from the ground up. they model'd the game to be free to play so instead of attracting people with ridiculous graphics like 90% of gaming companies do these days they focused on what counts(game play). i would also like to note that all of the pay to look pretty items they have created actually have high pixel counts and look amazing... on top of that i think they dont charge enough for most of the items in their marketplace so you get a really good deal on them(dont currently have spare money but believe me within a year ill be swimming in cool looking stuff). auction houses are terrible for action RPG's for the sheer fact that it alienates the player... why interact or barter(which was half the fun if D2) when you can simplify and streamline it into completely anonymous bidding and buying of items... o wait now it might as well be a single player game in which you can get items with some sort of gold you pick up while you play... the other problem with the auction house in D3 is that it makes allowing of custom games with names virtually impossible to implement out of fear of rendering that function useless. who would pay gold when you could trade one unique for another and maybe that person wants your item really badly so you get a better deal out of it. your concept of good gameplay is really warped by the idea that convenience is a good thing when in fact a certain amount of inconvenience makes for a far better game. I was pretty thoroughly disappointed with Diablo III. Everything from the ridiculous DRM to the game mechanics to the pumped-up MMO approach (it's amusing that despite this game actually *being* a full-blown MMO, it's much less in your face about it than D3).
Diablo II was the codifier for an entire genre (which has yet to gain a proper name except for the misleading "action roguelike" and the generic "dungeon crawler", unfortunately), so I never thought they'd top it, but I was hoping it'd be at least as good as the first Diablo. And it....well it really wasn't just that fun. After a single playthrough it gets so grindy it's absurd, and it becomes more of a chore than a game. Now, I don't know if PoE has that problem yet because I'm playing through it for the first time currently. But even if it does, it'll still have been a better value, because PoE was free (though I am considering dropping money on the alternate skin for the skeleton skill). The other game I'd call PoE better than is Torchlight 2. That was a great game, but it was incredibly derivative of the second Diablo down to the different environments and the progression they went in. PoE has its own distinct feel. So yeah, I'd say Path of Exile is better than Diablo 3. It's hard to qualify that kind of thing objectively, but I at least like PoE more, if nothing else. also this is my first post. Hi. " Can't be any worse than Railroad Tycoon. v_v " I will agree that the involvement of real money made it far worse, but it wasn't the only problem. I always preferred Diablo as a single player experience, and the attempt at forcing MMO-style player-to-player interaction did not sit well with me, because I don't enjoy MMOs. PoE is an exception in that regard, since player-to-player interaction is very minimal in PoE and more or less limited to seeing other peoples' characters unless you're specifically attempting to play with other people. I prefer it this way. " The graphics in PoE are actually very good. If you want an example of this kind of game with terrible graphics, check Akineiro, they go for a cel-shaded look and it doesn't work out very well. " That's great if that's something you find fun. For people like me, that's basically playing a very complicated, colorful math problem, and is not fun. " I will agree with limited replayability although my reasons are different (see above). " I will also agree that the game was too grindy. Though again my reasoning is different. Diablo II had a very specific feel to it, and D3 sort of threw that out the window in favor of focusing solely on the loot (treasure goblins, really?) and nothing else. Very little thought was put into the actual game. " Well that's rude. Different people find different things fun. Just because I don't really care for MMO-style looting-based gameplay does not make me "a noob". Same goes for anyone else who disagrees with you for any number of reasons. " I find the idea of a distinction between "casual" and "hardcore" gaming silly in the first place, but I'm going to have to ask you what's wrong with casual gaming if you believe such a thing exists, and for that matter, how you know what appeals to casual vs. hardcore players. " Who do you think made the models, item sprites, and so on? Last edited by MojaveMusic#3407 on Jan 29, 2013, 8:33:23 AM

" Well it might be rude, but these things are facts. And if ur a person who reads this and doesn't understand or disagrees, then u can't really grasp why certain games are succesful and others are not. What made only multiplayer games like World of Warcraft or Diablo 2 games so succesful, was the multiplayer aspect of the game. Forcing people to work together and stuff.. forces them eventually to build 'communities'. In which people can compete, formulate combo's strategies together and insprire each other. Making the game dynamic, competitive. This is in my opinion (actually a fact), one of the most important ingredients for multiplayer online games like Diablo 2 /PoE. The biggest problem nowadays, is that noob players don't realise this and give wrong feedback to developers. Developers then focus on other aspects (single player / sandbox). I call this an autistic style of gaming, which seems to be a trend for current gamers/developers. Last edited by drlook#3532 on Jan 29, 2013, 9:27:59 AM

" No they're not. They're your opinions. Your poorly spelled, rather offensive opinions. ("autistic" gaming?) Grow up. If you can't handle people liking different kinds of games than you I shudder to think how you operate in the real world. |

The reasons i think the Auction House is a failure in Diablo III is because, it took away the gameplay and making the character even stronger to skip many details. Remember back then on diablo II, i need a rush, someone powerlevel me, help me kill xxx, etcs. Those are the things that needed to be avoided.
Softcore or hardcore, having the game setups so the players can enjoying the game without abusing it. No cheating, it is no fun at all. Guess some players doesnt understand what pride and being respectable mean. Why they dont care lol, they just live off or use someone. Selling stuffs for cash on the AH is bad idea in the first place. Sooner or later, the IRS will come and want something in return. |
