GGG nerfed life nods and made the mobs damages lower so you could actualy take armor instead of life, but this is not working because armor is not that great in high level maps.

what does any of that have to do with the build I mentioned being boring? Nothing, that is what. Plus its a load of shit.

- Path of kaoms heart, thats nonsense, most life builds dont use kaoms heart, dont need to and often dont want to. Anyone who thinks different is a noob and/or has little grasp of the larger game, end of story.

- not being able to choose dps, nonsense you can have great dps with a survivable build.

- not being able to play something different... different to what? Different to these shit builds you seem to be playing that cant survive? I hate to break it to you but I have 9 different life builds, none of them use kaoms, they all use different skills, they all survive, they are all capable of destroying maps with gear I have found myself. Given I actually found a Kaoms and dont use it I think I can say this with credibility.

Armour is fine in high level maps, you cant survive a vaal smash on armour alone in a lvl74 map... 1 monster in 1 map and 1 of his attacks that you should not get hit by anyway can kill you... That doesnt make a case for armour being bad in high level maps. You obviously just dont have enough armour or you are not using endurance charges and granite flasks. Either the build is bad, the gear is bad or the player is bad imo.

lol@ the people who think the new expansion will do anything to fix diablow 3. I often see posts in the D3 forums with people citing D2 and the Lord of destruction expansion as a comparison, saying that D3 needs time like D2 did.

Well the problem is that Blizzard made decisions regarding some very core gameplay mechanics, and it's very unlikely they're going to change those. The core mechanics that have made it a shit game are the following

- Auction house
- Real Money Auction house
- No talent tree
- low level cap ( lol 60? World of Warcraft anyone )
- Free respecs

You can make any changes you want outside of changing these core mechanics, but you're still going to be left with a poorly designed, shallow end game and pay to win arpg.

This in totality is why D3 failed, and why it will continue to fail until you address these shitty core mechanics.

Read the OP again

No one has played the D3 expansion yet so until you do then you might want to be a bit skeptical. D3 on release should have been a finished product but it was really just a beta.

But I agree with the guy above, Based on what they have said it will contain, the expansion is not going to fix most of the core issues with D3.

I based what I said on the information given about D3 and my experience buying the original. If anyones jumping to conclusions its the people assuming that it will fix all of the problems.

Your critique of PoE consisted of "Oh look people are using the same builds so I guess there is no diversity" thats not even logical, the game can't force people to not choose to make cookie cutters, plus thats your perception and it doesn't mean that there are only cookie cutters playing the game.

You can throw insults if you want but try to give a decent response next time.

its actually not used by 90% of those builds, thats a misconception, it might have been true at the start of ob but not any more. It may be used by a lot of them but they are often a relic clinging to mechanics and skills that are no longer optimal. Unless you are properly stacking armour into the +20k range hybrid armour/evasion is much stronger at tanking for melee imo, and I have 24k armour characters and hybrid characters, this comes from experience. I would feel safer going toe to toe with a boss like Kole having 5k armour and 8k ev than I would 24k armour, though both can easily take hits from him. I would not feel safe at all with a 10k armour build thats got IR, I have those builds too, you can take 1 hit, then you had better back off and potion up.

I used to live by IR and RT for melee, since the duelist and then Ranger patches made the left side of the tree better Ive been playing around and I dont think those are very good nodes any more. RT is a must have 2 hander node, but theyre both a poor mans node now for anything else. My latest character has IR because I cant get enough Evasion on the gear, if the gear was as good as some of my other characters I wouldnt get it. If I started a new league I would chose those nodes on the first character as my gear would be crap and those nodes make bad gear viable, when I found good gear I would make a strong build without IR/RT/US.

Resolute technique is less damage and less survivability than a crit melee build, if you crit multiple times a second and freeze everything when you do the only worry you have is when you are out of range, closing that gap is usually not hard, blades, leap, good old kiting, very few ranged monsters in this game can hit a moving target that changes direction frequently.


If you want to play life based melee but dont want to make a good life based melee build, and rather want to take bad nodes and end up with a bad character then what can I say? Most builds are not represented by a guide on the forum, I think you are uninformed about whats viable and used in this game.
