Most players of any game never show in the forums, so that's a bad gauge. X-fire? Only tracks their members, again not a reliable source. You personal contacts? Please. How many accounts does PoE have? Do you actually know? How many have very active accounts and how don't? Have the answers? If you don't, please just go. This forum is much lighter without you whining about D3. |

" "Blizzard" is not "Blizzard North". Blizzard North made the first and second Diablo games and even worked on the third before being disbanded in 2005, their employees leaving Blizzard almost as one. Blizzard 'South' then took the IP over and redesigned D3 from the ground up. I think that's quite important if you want to argue that "PoE only exists because Blizzard made it possible". The Blizzard that made PoE possible is not the Blizzard that made D3. And no, D2 is not a blueprint for PoE. Yes, there are similarities, but what makes PoE exceptional is that GGG recognized what worked from D2 and took it over, recognized what didn't and why it didn't, and changed it, and added their own twist. Blizzard (South) took the IP of Diablo and seemingly designed the game around it without much rhyme or reason with an audience as target that has almost no overlap with the original Diablo fan base. Which is why D3 is really flawed on a very basic level. They tried to cover too many bases at once, and succeeded only in not covering any. And I doubt that even a brilliant add-on could change that. Not to mention that my trust in Blizzard South to deliver even a decent add-on is non-existent. In short: Blizzard South finally seems to realize that they have no in-house expertise on how an ARPG actually works (after all, they lost all that when Blizzard North left/was let go in its entirety), and takes its clues from a company that knows what it is doing. Which is, hilariously, exactly what a LOT of posters on the official D3 forums begged Blizzard to do a few months ago: "Take a look at that small Indie company, they're doing it right!" 12/12/12 - the day Germany decided boys are not quite human.
