So youve all seen the build of the week video and want to try one of your own, only perhaps with a bit of a twist to make it personal and YOURS?
OF COURSE YOU DO!
Little is understood about this fighting style, and the new skill of the week most certainly uses it.
To specify to new users who may be reading this before they try it, and sorry if this is basic, but I feel the need to specify,
"
To be considered UNARMED, one must NOT have any weapon equipped. Punches punches punches.
.
There is ONE exception to this rule:
"
You may equip a shield to one hand and still be considered 'unarmed'
Info added by Aplier~!
But how do I become super duper strong in each punch?
Lets break this down simply.
Starting with these sets of skills starting from the Marauder branch:
"
Melee Damage
12% increased Melee Physical Damage
DOES in fact increase your unarmed total damage.
CONFIRMED VIA TESTING IN GAME
One Handed Damage
6% increased Damage With One Handed Melee Weapons
DOES NOT in fact increase your unarmed total damage.
CONFIRMED VIA TESTING IN GAME
"
Strength
+10 to Strength
DOES in fact increase your unarmed total damage.
CONFIRMED VIA TESTING IN GAME
It would appear at this point in the beta that the only way to increase the following whilst unarmed:
"
Attack Speed
Attack Damage
Charges Gained
Leech Life
Leech Mana
Info added by Aplier~!
Are to select the 'generic' version of each one, examples include of course the confirmed skills above and similar.
A Note On Criticals
"
Crit damage is working properly, (10% crit damage turns 150% into 165% (150%*1.10=165%).
Base attack speed is 1.2.
Base physical damage is 2-5 (at 14 strength, which is as low as it gets).
Also submitted by APlier~!
Even though one would make the logical conclusion that a fist itself would be a one handed weapon in general, it apparently is not considered one. Additionally, with the use of BOTH fists, are we not also DUAL WIELDING?
Now, the next item has NOT been confirmed in game, but because the One Handed Damage option in the passive skill tree did NOT do anything for damage one is led to believe that:
"
One Handed Accuracy
12% increased Accuracy Rating with One Handed Melee Weapons
Probably won't increase your accuracy whilst unarmed.
YET TO BE CONFIRMED VIA TESTING IN GAME
So your asking yourself,
What actually WILL pump up melee damage besides simply spamming the unspecified generic 'melee damage' skills?
Additionally, what actually WILL bump up melee accuracy?
Lets discuss, and please share with me, I will be testing these in game too!
This original post WILL be modified and edited based on the general word of mouth once a bit of it has been generated.

Also, some of you may be curious about the

The percentage of increased unarmed damage has been linked in extremes from
"
"
Aplier claims the low is 800% and the high is 1000%.
These gloves are of course ONE way to drastically increase unarmed damage. Not the ONLY way though.

You are not wielding a weapon. Therefore bonuses that increase WEAPON damage don't do anything, because you have no weapon. (The irony of the underlined statements made me giggle, which is why they're underlined)
Also, facebreaker's damage ranges from 800% to 1000%.

If you don't have anything constructive to contribute please don't bother trolling.

I'm not trolling, I'm simply trying to help you reduce a lot of clutter that can be summarized by the clear in-game distinction between "weapon" and "no weapon" (unarmed).

Well thanks, but as I said before, I'll update my posts with any relevant knowledge, you've been given credit about the gloves high/low stats as the above post reflects.
--Added in edit--
Also, had you read it, I stated that although redundant and verging on insulting to not know, I was just stating it to clarify the usage.
--Double Edit--
This is a BASIC guide, you may have a great understanding of things, but please keep in mind, not everybody runs on the same set of data. Someone needs to drip-feed it to those who are simply curious about this style, thus I create the thread in a simple breakdown so ALL may understand.

As of right now, "increased elemental damage with weapons" mods and passive affect unarmed damage. This will be changing shortly when 9.12 comes out:
"
The Weapon Elemental Damage support gem and passive skills now no longer affect unarmed attacks. No other stats that include the word "Weapon" affect unarmed damage now.
Additionally, you can be considered "unarmed" when you have a shield equipped.
Generic increased attack speed, and frenzy charges, affect unarmed attack speed.
Strength bonus affects unarmed damage.
You can leech life and mana from unarmed attacks.
Base crit chance for unarmed attacks is 5%. At the moment, passives and crit chance bonuses don't seem to change this, so I'll have to write a bug report for that.
EDIT: I do have a problem in that I often overestimate the intelligence of the average human. I'll try to include more "drip-feed" type information as I come across it, these are what I have for now.

Good info to know, I'll add it to the list!

If possible, please include the generic skills names so i can break those down as well.
