so far since Anarchy beginning i got :
2 Exalt 1divine 0gcp 1regal i like not getting GCP if it turns to be exalted orbs ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it

I'd say people hoard them more because their value as a currency FAR exceeds their value as a crafting tool.
I used the first three exalts I ever had and got reflect three phys damage on all three items... I decided at that point that exalted orbs were actually near worthless as a tool because I could have traded those three for a 100% guaranteed useful upgrade. I will now only use them on the most extreme of items, of which I have had ONE that qualified in my view, in the past 5 months. That single item I decided was worth the try was crafted by me, with the expenditure of many alts/augs and a very, very lucky regal. I got 16 evade with my exalted orb.. yet again suggesting that no matter how you plan or research, the orbs are always much less likely to generate a value equal to what you can get via trade. If you want exalted orbs to have actual value and be used as a crafting tool you need to increase their drop rate BUT you ALSO need to make Eternal orbs as common as augs so that A) it doesn't cost 3 exalteds to use one exalted and B) people can actually work on an item repeatedly without ruining it. |

No exalts dropped for me in Anarchy yet, with a 60 duelist and 2x 70+ characters.
I've had 3 exalt drops since I started last August. MonstaMunch: "You're just jelly because you can't afford to mirror my rod. It's 100% reel."

Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Hm, mine is 1 exalt per 100+ hours atm (700+ hrs played)...can't say exactly, deleted chars and stuff. But not that many hours on those. Most of the playtime with MF toons.

It could very easily be that for one week they increased the drop rates of exalted orbs by 100%. If that is the case, then everybody would be getting them which would lead to everybody wanting to sell them at the current price whereas most people wouldn't want to buy them due to the increased drop rate meaning they are much more likely to have gotten one. Thus, the price would inflate. And even still, regardless of what he says, if the drop rate was increased and more people hoarded... is that a bad thing? Sure, you could say it's bad because there is less trading of exalted orbs. However, on the other hand, players would be more likely to have one since they would be more abundant. It really seems like a simple trade off. And I do suspect that with greater drop rates of exalted orbs the price would go down over time. Sure, it might spike up, but eventually it will go down. Nobody can do anything except make up hypothesis for what happened though without the raw data. Everything I say is just what I 'think' would happen because it makes sense. Maybe the player base was too small at the time? There are just so many factors that need to be known and analyzed. Anyway, good job op. " Nicely said Destro. No data = pure speculation. And even if you have data, it can be interpreted 100 ways by 100 people. On the other hand (pure speculation ahead): if they increased drop rates, and people now had 10 exalts instead of 5 they still wouldn't use it will nilly. As for other orbs, who knows, I personally like to hoard then use (idk if you want to gather 2000 fusings...you'll gather till you have 2.000 no matter how fast you collect them). People could predict, that drop rate increase wouldn't last (dunno how long it actually lasted). Or people waited and hoarded till economy stabilized (if you announce economy will change there's always a period of adjustment and aberrant activity). If people are used to mentality orb=valuable=hoard hoard, you can't change that thinking very fast. Stuff like that. And game economy =/= real life economy. So many factors. 6 exalt drops since leagues probly 600-800 hours played so avg 1 per 100 hours or so
