Ranger changes, for me were garbage, GGG CHALLENGE

Now, my ranger only had 58 points to spend. Before tat she was blood magic, and was following a newbi guide, and was actually doing great, i could spam LA with chain+life on hit+LMP endlessly as long as i hit something, and using a fast attack speed short bow.

Now i re-sepced, got all the mana regen nodes i could, stacked 4% leech on my rangers gear, and 100% mana regen too from gear, my spec allowed for alot of crit and bow damage, which was nice........so i thought.

I could fire 3 volleys, then im OOM, my regen cant even begin to keep up, leech is useless at my level too, now, am i mad? a little, was i in love with my ranger not totally, but i want to know how a ranger is expected to play without blood magic in cruel and beyond? before the patch i rapped docks, after the patch i cant kill anything.

Now my point is, the ranger is still very broken, what if a total newb came along and wanted to be a ranger, he would be very annoyed when he saw his mana cant compete and hes always OOM.

I challenge GGG to show me a 58 point NON blood magic spec that can compete with the old blood magic builds as a RANGER.

How much mana you got? Using frenzy and a mana leech gem, at 5 attacks per second with 35 mana cost, leech sustained just fine for most fights with a little bit of extra regen. I've got just over 500 mana.

hmmm just curious why did u even re spec from blod magic?Do u use black geam? Do u know lighting arrow converts 50 % of your physical dmg so normal leech from phy attacks is kinda useless , if u se black geam it basically gives u 0 mana back? I am having a blast with my PHYSICAL split arrow , i had to use mana leech before the patch but now i can pew pew endlessly :D


Edit : Get rid of the mana leech on gear as with lighting arrow (even without blackgeam) they are semi useless , use all that crit and dmg u got from the new passive tree and replace one of your dps gems with mana leech.

Next time before u do changes like this be sure to understand the mechanics of the game.

With 500 mana your max leech is 62,5 per second. You spend 175 mana per second. There must be sth wrong...

To the OP, why would you use chain with LA? LA hits 1 target +3 chained, so 4 hits overall. With chain you get additional 2 hits and -50% damage... So instead of having 4 hits with 100%, you get 6 hits for 50%. You deal less damage for higher mana.

When you stop attacking it keeps leeching if you were leeching more than your max per second. Most of the time A) The monsters are dead before I run out or B) the monster comes too close so I have to run away.

it is my fear as well. what if I re-spec and take all those mana-related nodes but still having mana issue? I am duelist and even at level 80 I only have less than 600 mana. there is no problem at all when I use Blood Magic gem, but that slot could be used for dps or others.

my main attack is Frenzy with more than 7APS.

IF taking all those mana nodes not able to solve the mana problem then whats the point?

rangers are intended to use mana flasks... i know ... but still.

if you wana use mana, try mana leech gem (quality even better!)

leech on gear is only physical

Well, i am mostly a newb, i do understand some, but not all the deep number crunching details, i re arranged my gear, its better now, maybe im just spolied by how awesome blood magic+LOH is with fast weapons

This last part is very wrong. LA hits 4 targets, and chain basically makes it hit 12 targets (as in, 3x4). Of course it deals more damage...

That said, Chain is very mana intensive. In most leveling situations, LA+ LMP + pierce/fork is cheaper and good enough.

As for the OP's problem, I agree on one part: base mana regen is a joke. Mana regen % is only useful with clarity or EB. You either need flasks or the mana leech gem otherwise. Current mana regen is at 1.75%, which is useless. It could be 4% and most builds wouldn't see a difference, but it'd be a start.
