Harder the Diablo 2/3

Just starting out and have died a few times.

Seems like it is quite a bit harder right from the start compared to d2 and d3.

Anyone else agree does it stay the same or do you start to feel more powerful?

it's harder... and in terms of feeling more powerful it depends

if you have some level-gear left over from other chars and know what you do passive and skill-wise it's easy to feel like a god, if not, it's even easyer to run into a wall, especially if you play solo and/or melee.

most builds are weak in certain level-ranges and you won't always have a good weapon to make up for it - playing with a friend makes it way easyer if you don't have the gear (first char or beginning of new league)
And more importantly if you run into a wall it takes some experience to see whats wrong and how to deal with it.

The learning-curve in PoE is rather brutal, but if you keep at it it's very rewarding.

It's decidedly harder... and not just because we're noobs and haven't gotten geared up. It's harsher. There's a lot that can kill a character, where in D2 you really didn't die unless you were trying something stupid. Damage happens faster, so you have to be ready for it. Freeze will kill you. Stun will kill you. There's just a lot of things that will kill you.

Diablo 2 was never really hard. In Diablo 2 there is a point that you eventually reach that makes the game extremely easy.

I don't die that much, whenever I do, it always happens so quickly I have no time to react, either caused by desync or getting one shot by a powerful enemy

I never feel powerful especially because I always focus on survivability, I once tried to make a 'glassier' character, the game would just not allow it, even on normal

I really dislike the difficulty in PoE, most bosses are just about spamming the same skill for a long time until it dies

the bosses and combat needs to be more like... , yeah that's not happening but it would be nice, to dodge/block manually, bosses having special ways to be defeated, even if it was possible, I can't imagine the desync, a black hole might just pop up because of server alter universe quantum time traveling rubberbanding

The game is hard because it has broken mechanics.

Classic D2 got patched cause it was that bad.

If by "classic" you mean what first came out, then sure. Because the higher level equipment wasn't available yet. The blue lance was the best item you could hope to find for the first few months.

Ya just make sure you really invest in survival. My friend made countless DPS builds when he first started and was always frustrated and couldn't progress at a certain point.
