Missing Melee and Abilities Isn't Fun!
Threads like this is what has destroyed other games. Hopefully POE devs are smart enough to not fall into the trap of gutting their game for no valid reason.
The only non intrusive suggestion I have seen is to to just up the base miss % a small amount. All other suggestions would mean they would have to redo the passive tree, itemization and mob balance which would most likely delay the game until 2020. Fight censorship

The whole point of Evasion/Armor/Energy Shield is they are all passive defenses, you have them and they reduce incoming damage by various means. Changing one of the three into an active defense isn't a good idea, because you're adding a different mechanic into the game for one class of people, and completely removing their passive defense.
I get you don't like missing, fine, whatever. I get Resolute Technique is too far for you, but you are better served asking for Resolute Technique to get moved to a more central or easier to get to location than asking them to remove an entire passive defense by taking out missing. |

" You're thinking too black and white. Instead of removing dodging completely, why can't evasion be reworked so you have a chance to mitigate/dodge x% of incoming damage instead? Higher evasion rating increases the chance to dodge, and damage mitigated when you dodge. Accuracy stat can be kept basically the same as it is. This makes it less RNG based, and more suitable for PvP. I haven't PvPed yet, but from what I understand, evasion will be very RNG based in PvP, and it will take away some of the skill from the game. Evasion characters will sometimes get lucky and evade multiple hits that should've killed them, then other times they will get hit by 2 crits in a row and die instantly. " That suggestion sounds complex and out of place in this game. You can already dodge projectiles. I don't need some arbitrary "manual dodging mechanic" to be introduced. Talk about unfun. Another thing, I never said missing was fun. I just meant that there's nothing "not fun" about it. Missing doesn't detract from my experience. It makes sense as a mechanic and I don't think this is an area that needs to be redone. |

" it is unfun that you control your character? adding a manual dodge mechanic is more realistic. in the world of PoE, your character doesn't just stand there while every once in a while an attack causes them no harm, they are actively trying to avoid incoming damage and evasion is trying to simulate that. i mean no offense, but i don't see how adding something that makes the game more challenging to the player could possibly dumb it down. this is essentially making the game more complex, which iirc, is exactly what you liked so much about dodge. in any case, i doubt they will implement something like that, it is far beyond that point in development where such an extreme makeover could occur. i accept that it is unlikely there will be a manual "dodge" button of sorts, but i do think evasion/accuracy needs a rework so that it rewards players for playing well and punishes players for not playing well unlike the current system. |

I appreciate that you're offering your own ideas, but this is never ever going to happen (manual dodge), so I'm not even going to bother offering criticism to it. It's just not a good idea for this game. Why wouldn't I just go with armor then, if evading meant I had to waste time and energy on doing something manually?
And once again, your word is not the final word. Many people are unhappy with evasion, but many are just fine with it (like me). It's in the developers' hands and they've seen hundreds of ideas put forth by players on how to change evasion, so if they decide to, they already have a huge wealth of suggestions to draw from. " The problem is you're changing one passive defense into an active skill system, when the game is being balanced around three passive defenses and not two passive defenses and one active. It's more than a little dissonant in game design to have that happen, and would cause more issues in the future with players not realizing it. |

" i mentioned in my post twice that this would never happen, i was merely pointing out that a manual dodge mechanic can work. like i said, evasion/accuracy should be revamped, being less random is generally better. and if the dodge mechanic was much more effective than armor, then it would be used. the tradeoff is that you would have to activate it. in terms of suggestions on how to remedy this in a way that could actually happen, i would suggest changing dexterity to giving armor and spell resistance. on average, it works out to be the same except it is reliable. if you want to keep up the synergy evasion has with energy shield, make it so that some % of mitigated damage goes into energy shield regeneration. you could actually do some pretty cool stuff with this. to change accuracy but retain its interaction with evasion, make it ignore/remove the opponent's armor/resistances. just like current accuracy, it has minimal effectiveness against an opponent with low evasion. |

There is already manual dodge in the game, you simply walk away from attacking mob or the path of charging rhoa...
It is more realistic to go out, take some wooden sticks and fight your friends. Or do historical fencing... This is a pc game, though. If anything is not fun, it is 'unfun'. Is dying in game fun? I don't think so, let's remove it from the game. Is taking huge damage fun? No, let's remove it form the game. And I could go on... I would like to see some active defense skills in game but please, leave evasion be - it is FUN (let's not remove it from the game). ✠ ✠
