Can't differentiate Magic/Rare items in inventory at a glance

Fair enough. We'll consider it for the future but it may not be in soon!

Thanks Chris!

I can see the urge to distinguish between rarity of items in your inventory. It would be an easy way to sort, true enough.

The problem I see is inexperienced players to this game will think rarity is worth. They will not understand the currency system at first. They will not understand how different items barter for different materials. Sure, they can find out in chat, if they pay attention to general chat. Some do not because it can quickly become "Barren's Chat".

Will they understand the item quality, the ability to "upgrade" an item? Or will they simply conclude whites are unless, blues are better and focus on the yellows?

I know when I first heard of this game, and started to watch gameplay videos the above was my assumption. Ignore white, check out a few blues if you have space and focus on yellows. I had no idea of the currency and "crafting" meta-game.

I think that is more the fault of a lack of a clear explanation for crafting and the economy in general. I came in with similar misconceptions and all that could quickly be dispelled with a brief popup on finding a currency item or something.

If new players think that white/magic items are not as worthwhile as rare/unique items then they won't pick them up in the first place. They can see what color they are when they're on the ground, so it would make no difference to their attitude toward rarity if they could see the color in their inventory/stash.

Aside from that, the idea that a game might be intentionally designed to have an unnecessarily frustrating and time-wasting UI simply because some people might not immediately understand the game's design concepts is certainly one of the more bizarre I've encountered.

Learning that white/magic items can be just as valuable in certain situations as any other item is a part of the process of learning the game. I know that when I started I had no interest whatsoever in white items until I learned their real value. When I found out they could be upgraded... Guess what? I started collecting them. Simple.

I really don't see how preventing the player from seeing item rarity at a glance in their inventory/stash makes any sense whatsoever and I'm honestly surprised that anyone would actually put time and effort into arguing against it.
