Opinion on Crest of Perandus Pine Buckler

It's great for leveling but in normal and (pre act 3) cruel a shield is not really needed. I wouldn't call it OP early. It probably is but then I would have to find another category on top of that for Goldrim.

It is a good endgame shield, too. But after getting many block nodes, they also give a lot of +% defences from shield. At this point the endgame-downside, the quasi-nonexistant AR/EV/ES, kicks in and other shields quickly catch up.

EB and ES builds will want ES shields, spellblock builds may want Rathpith, AR/EV attack builds may prefer a rare with 1k+ defense (which gets enhanced greatly by the nodes), life and resists.

Very good explanation! And of course no other item is as op as goldrim.
The downside (no AR/EV/ES) is just to big to stick with this shield after lvl 70.
Even Lioneye's is way better if you have enough points to reach max block.
For aegis - there is not even a way to compare crest and aegis. Playing with aegis is a whole different thing. Even as a life based char it is easy to grab 800-1000 es and that is enough to feel the magic of aegis. I think I used every single shield in this game and aegis is by far the best shield in poe. The new version is still fine but the old version is just to good to be true. I still don't get it why a new crappy kaom chest is more expensive then a godlike legacy aegis. I have seen many people selling a legacy aegis for only 14-16 ex.
Of course as a rf char you grab a phoenix but for every char that is using a chrest I guarantee to you that an aegis would be MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH BETTER!

PS: Did I mention that an aegis would be much better?

"Yes, it is perfectly fair. It just sucks ass."
