Opinion on Crest of Perandus Pine Buckler

Hey guys I would like to get your opinions on this unique shield. I know its good for leveling with but does anyone use it at endgame? The block chance is best in the game as far as shields go but is it worth it at endgame?

Endgame I think Aurora Aegis or Lioneye's Remorse are generally better. The 40% block chance does get endgame use, though.

thank you for your reply. i understand that this is the general consensus but I have a feeling it might be worth testing the 40% block chance shield. I don't believe anyone ever has so no one can say for sure if it's not worth using unless they actually did some tests to see differences in damage taken as well as other factors.

You can't go above 75% block chance, which is achievable (although not easily) via the passive tree with just any old shield.

Yes, the infernal blow marauder build uses it if you can't get a Aurora Aegis.

It's amazing. Best block, only shield with life leech, and a good amount of life on it.
I wish every low unique kept its power as well as that shield does.
40% block before passives is nothing to sneeze at. But with all uniques there's a time and place for it. I picked up a perandus in anarchy, now i'm waiting to get the one that says cannot be frozen. Bind it to my weapon swap key, scream ffffuuuuu to almost every mob in the game.

Its a great shield for block chance, but at late game you should be able to or plan for using other top tier shields.
GGG listens to its fans!!! Thank you!
It's top notch for a block build until level 68 or so, when you can find a Vaal Buckler and craft it with 6% added block and evasion and life. That will boost evasion tremendously vs. Perandus. I recommend the alt/regal/exalt method. Alt until you get the 6% block and some other useful mod.
Aegis Aurora is for Energy Shield builds, ideal if that's what you're building. For block + life/leech builds, I think Perandus is pretty tough to beat, with up to +80 life, 7.5% regen, and 3% leech in addition to its unmatched 40% block chance. In practice, getting 75% block chance requires either a long stretch from Templar down to Duelist or giving up chest armor for a pricey Bringer of Rain helmet. Hard to justify considering how easy it is to acquire a top-notch Perandus.
