Opinion on Crest of Perandus Pine Buckler

Which one would be better for my lvl 71 block marauder? Not using the IR node btw. |

Every Character I Level uses this shield either for Auras or Fire Trap, Empower & Enhance. It makes leveling a fucking breeze. Only wished one of the better stated Perandus shields I vaaled would have gotten the +1 to all gems. But this one does the job. Highest Level I ever used it still was on my Ranger (Lvl 71) but she just died so I stopped playing her. Last edited by sfbistimg#7663 on Oct 12, 2014, 12:44:46 PM

Its one of the best shields in the game, and also one of the best designed uniques. Its very useful throughout the entire game without being op.
HAIL SATAN!

" i disagree. it is most definetely op. it is the best defensive option even if you dont use the life leech it provides. even compared to aegis aurora you get an additional 3 block passives for free, 80 life and 30 lightres. the moment you equip it at level 8 you become invincible for the next two difficulties but then again it doesnt hurt anybody that the shield is op. it doesnt provide players with insane clearspeed and doesnt trivialize the content without building around it heavily still. | |

its completely OP
should be level 40 or so Dogs Summoner - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/885199

Too good. I wouldn't call it overpowered. It just has lots of benefits that outstrips the point of it being a low level shield.

" Nobody who's using an Aegis Aurora would give it up for a Perandus instead, though. Yeah, you don't gain Base Life, but you gain a metric ton of survivability through its unique modifier. A rather silly argument. " Being practically invincible in Cruel is easy without Perandus all the same. If that is the chosen definition of 'overpowered', then GGG has a whole lot of work to do. :p Perandus is really good. If you're intent on using Shields, it's one of the best shields available, especially for its level. However, going without one works just fine all the same, and other shields can provide stats that Perandus does not feature (easy example: Spell Damage/Crit). I wouldn't say that classifies as "overpowered". |
|
" Id go with perandus. |

Perandus is by far the best leveling shield. I tend to use it until I start running into a wall when upgrading my other gear, at which point I've already snagged enough block nodes to make any other shield viable and a huge upgrade from the perandus's HP and tiny evasion.

It's great for leveling but in normal and (pre act 3) cruel a shield is not really needed. I wouldn't call it OP early. It probably is but then I would have to find another category on top of that for Goldrim.
It is a good endgame shield, too. But after getting many block nodes, they also give a lot of +% defences from shield. At this point the endgame-downside, the quasi-nonexistant AR/EV/ES, kicks in and other shields quickly catch up. EB and ES builds will want ES shields, spellblock builds may want Rathpith, AR/EV attack builds may prefer a rare with 1k+ defense (which gets enhanced greatly by the nodes), life and resists. |
