well it does make sense to craft with Exalted Orbs under the following conditions:
1) you are so incredibly rich, you don't have room in stash for all your stacks of Exalts.
AND/OR
2) it's an item you intend to equip and use from now to the end of PoE days, and would never, ever consider selling it.

if u get an item with 4 good stats there is only one option to make it perfect ... and this is exalted orb
You can be lucky to get a perfect 5th and 6th role on it ... but also you can be very very unlucky and get like the first post +3 armor ...
With chaos orb you just reroll everything and it will end up bad in 99% of all uses.
So its pretty obvious .. exalted orbs are the best orbs for hardcore gamers, which want the perfect equip
