pretty much the same principle applies here, the only thing i know they really get used on is maps sometimes, but at this point in the game no one is really using them outside of trading for better items. at least they shouldn't be using them yet, using them at this point would be an expensive mistake.

Diamonds buy you a woman, didn't you know? Women's durability degrades over time though and requires you to repair them with more diamonds.

This is the only known use for diamonds.

Actually only this week someone from GGG confirmed on reddit that divine orbs are in fact rarer than exalted orbs.

My inconsequential anecdotal evidence does tend to support that, I've found a staggeringly huge total of 2 exalted, and no divines.
Mind you I've only seen 3 regals drop, and about 4 GCP.
But a quote of the actual conversation would do wonders for your post.

I have two divines and three blessed orbs, my friend found two divines as well. Exalts - nope, never seen

I think it's a combination of rarity and actual usefulness.

Divine Orbs are probably programmed to be rarer in terms of drop odds, but using a Divine puts all your modifiers at risk, and can actually make some of them worse.
using an Exalted is guaranteed to give you an extra modifier, with only a handful of options being bad.

all this in theory.
I never got to actually use any of the above orbs on an item, and I envy those who can afford to do so.

That would be much too easy ;) For your question: in theory, you need 1 regal and 3 exalted (at least) at the time you have "your perfect" blue item. In real, you'll probably need much more trials to make it even somewhat close to perfect in the end...

So, one thing is: exalteds give you the feeling/vision to be able to create perfect items by yourself. And the other side: this vision and their general rareness gives them a 'perfect' highend trading value.
