Reset Skill Tree?
" Trial and error. I played sacred 2 for a long time, and i made 100000000000 different characters because i didnt like this or that choice or because some skills dont stack. Once i became part of forum community and actually started thinking about my builds i started to make permanent characters. Sometimes I actually spent more time planing how each lvl should look like, than actually playing the character. And i never regret any of that or do i consider it a waste of time. It was all part of learning and playing experience. If you cant handle the fact that you will have to grind alot or that you will have to start new character because of some wasted skill points than you should stop now. P.S. I never played FFX so when i saw skill tree i spent 5 hours looking at it and trying to understand what can i do with it. I did put a single point in a skill tree until i finally got some idea how my char should look like. Also thing to note is this is close beta. There will bhe wipe at the end and you should use this time to experiment as much as you can. Trespassers will be shot survivors will be shot again!

"All the good ol' response. You do not dissapoint. "Thats my point. I am in beta experimenting and have been playing RPG games for 20 years. What of the people who only come in on release? Experiement, re-roll, or die? The face of gaming has changed my friend. |

" i was a new player once.. (hell i still am) and you know what.. it didnt discourage me.. just because i played in the beta doesnt mean jack. everyone has to start somewhere, doesnt matter if you start in closed beta, open beta, or launch.. when i started, i had to learn this stuff, and when the next guy starts.. he has to learn the stuff too. do people that participate in the closed beta have a head start on the people who started in retail or open beta? of course they do.. people who also go to school for 10+ years to get a masters or doctorate have a head start on someone who's in their first couple years.. its just the way the world works... you cant just jump in and expect to know it all, you build the knowledge as you play, when you make a mistake, you learn from it (hopefully) and in the future you dont make those mistakes again. Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ... Last edited by wade001#1394 on Aug 1, 2012, 10:33:04 AM

" And this is the most oldschool game I've seen in ages, its face is old and ugly my friend. Last edited by JusticeAndLiberty#3107 on Aug 1, 2012, 10:32:01 AM

"The point was that during beta you are aware that everything is going to be wiped so you don't care about making mistakes or experimenting. Once the game goes live, having to re-roll or making a 'mistake' that forces a re-roll interferes with the leveling process especially when leveling with friends. All that is fine, yay, old school game, hard choice, adapt or be eaten. woot! Just saying that to someone coming in and seeing it all for the first time when the game is live and choice mean something it will be overwhelming if you don't have an easy out for those first mistakes. " Yea i know is kind of retarded answer to give, but its the fact. I dont eat some types of vegetables because my digestive system cant handle it. (not really but its an example). You cant please everyone, and this is the type of players GGG wants to attract. Younger players are getting spoiled because things might be hard to do or would take time to do, so why not give them lvl100 chars from start, with best gear and enough skill points to fill the whole tree. I might sound mad or irritated, but i am not. I would just wish for ppl not simplify games just for the sake of new players. Let them learn something on their own. And if they are really lazy to test and experiment let them at least browse forums for best solution. The reason why this games skill tree is great is because when you exit the game you can still "play" it, by planning, thinking... thinking is not a bad thing, and if ppl with work can find time to play this game as it is intended to be played i dont see why wouldnt the young ones who have more free time. EDIT: An idea. Put huge text in red in skill tree saying: DO NOT PLACE A SINGLE POINT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE! that would solve alot of things, and ppl who put skill points without thinking cant complain cause they have been warned. Trespassers will be shot survivors will be shot again! Last edited by BJSV#5607 on Aug 1, 2012, 10:47:28 AM

As I said in my first point all my side of the argument might be for naught considering the free respec points and the orbs of regret so long as they aren't too hard to come by.

I'm doing trial and error. This game has got almost all of my gaming attention. so if i mess up and just try to re-route to give me the best option of how to better optimize my character.
i wasted my respecs because i didnt really understand what it meant....i thought it meant they were available to place into the skill tree :( My Life For Aiur!

" Yea 100% behind this, respec was HORRIBLE for D2! it seemed like a good thing, but in the end it was very bad for game play. and would be worse in PoE. someone could invest in the "quick payoff" skills early and then when up several levels they could just switch out to the keystones or "bigger" passives without making any sacrifice. once this respec game gets going then you punish people who don’t use it. Also, for HC this is a big deal. One of the few nice things about dying in HC is you get the chance to rebuild and correct mistakes or choose a different approach - with easy respecs all that happens is another level grind to get back to where you were before… and that feels empty. No "character" to your character. |

Just try and see what you like. If you do not like it, start over, and try another build (the game is not released yet, so there can be a lot more on it's way :P).
Thats what i like about this game. The HUGE skill tree. You can choose your path. Last edited by Desphex#5732 on Aug 1, 2012, 10:52:45 AM
