Crafting orbs or currency? A serious discussion of the game's direction
Please no stupid political statements. Not interested in your political beliefs.
" Not interested in popularity. People want to craft. Increased drop rate leads to high end gear accumulation and inflation. Item deletion takes care of that. In fact it might be bad enough that GGG could get rid of xp penalty also, so no more QQ about that. You can keep skill gems and flasks like in CT races. It would be pretty cool if they just had a new Test League where they could try this idea out. Unfortunately they would probably have to have a lot of servers to accommodate the unknown amount of players (I'd assume it would be a pretty good amount), not to mention upkeep and maintenance.
Honestly, I wish I could help them, because all they'd have to do is copy current Standard League format (since death in Test League = ???, just use Standard instead of Hardcore), and increase drop rates 10 fold, more, less, 10 honestly seems to be a good number, but maybe only for high level things like regal/exalt/chaos/etc. Increasing drop rates on armorer's scraps by 10 would be ridiculous as then every piece of gear you ever get you'd just make +20% quality. TL;DR Copy Standard League format into new Test League, increase drop rates of only high level orbs by 10 fold. P.S. I also like the idea of not being able to trade crafting orbs and instead only items, but that only matters if the increased drop rate solves any problems at all. I almost think this should be mandatory though if they do increase the drop rates. |

" Losing gear on death is worse than death itself. You can't go to vendor, buy some white gear and start playing again like in RPG, here white items are completely useless. You will spend more time to aquire the gear than leveling another character |

" This is right and this is why i hate any kind of trading/AH in ARPGs. Maybe i am too old school but i miss the good ol D1 D2 times where i played OFFLINE, never traded anything but still got rewarded. yes i know there was trading and online gaming with D2, but i didnt took part of this. Yes, i think i would enjoy a selffound perma leage with trading disabled + enhanced droprate |

I'm amazed how people want to have uber gear at level 40 or even when they start mapping, and they expect to drop that gear during their levelling.
With my level 80, I can farm something like 10 fusings/hour without taking any risk, full solo (thanks to the vendors). I don't even need to be level 80 for that farming in a zone lower than 40. 10 fusings/hour --> 5 chaos/hour. 6 hours --> 1 exalted. 1 exlated --> a nice item. |

I could be mis-reading the OP's point... but an hours worth of farming is going to net you the same value in terms of trading if they increase the orb drop rate by 10 times or decrease it to a tenth of what it is now...
Its a matter of if a mediocre upgrade costs 2 chaos now in trade with an increase in orb drops it could cost 20 later in which case the OP might not feel as bad actually using his chaos orbs instead of trading them. Using currency to create something better than you could purchase with it will never be a guarantee no matter what happens to prices, but if drop rates were increased, orb prices for items would get closer to their actual cost to craft, which would make actually using your orbs feel like you were burning $5 bills instead of $100s. Personally, I dont care how hard the middle of the game is for my characters, I'd spend all my currency on end game regardless because a chaos can reroll a 70+ rare just as easily as a ilvl 20 one... that to me is the discrepancy. If that holds I'll only ever spend currency on end game items, or the extremely rare mid game ilvls to twink a pvp char. |

" I'm level 81 and see one fusing in two hours maybe. What is your iq, 2678% ? |

" I completely agree with this and that is why I figured that if they ever implemented this idea somehow (test league or real league), then the idea that you can only trade items and not currency would probably be necessary. It would also instantly solve the problem everyone has with the ITEM vs. ITEM thing, as you would be forced to. |
