+80% crit chance with 2h melee weapons
By the way, I'm not just speculating. Everything I said can be confirmed by Mark_GGG in the thread about Lightning Strike.

" Sorry to dig up an old thread with a newbie question, but I took the Water Dancing node (18% increased Physical Damage with One Handed Melee Weapons) and my tooltip DPS didn't change. I'm wondering if this is normal or not? ⚡ Lightning Golems:

'+80% crit chance with 2h melee weapons' means: if you make an attack using a 2h melee weapon, it benefits from 80% increased crit chance.
Lightning Strike is an attack that uses a melee weapon. Strictly speaking, only one crit *roll* is made per action (not counting the special to-hit roll that critical attacks are subject to). Think of it is a random number between 1 and 100 that is rolled once for each action. Whether this results in a critical strike depends on your critical strike chance, which in principle does not have to be the same for all consequences of the action. In practice though, I don't think there is any way to get a different crit chance with the melee strike of Lightning Strike vs the projectiles. " Are you making an attack? Is it using one or more one-handed melee weapons for its damage? How much physical damage are you dealing? (It could be your physical damage is so low that the bonus is not noticeable.) Did you make sure to apply passives before leaving the passive screen? Last edited by Incompetent#3573 on Jun 23, 2013, 2:31:04 AM

Sorry, I should have been more detailed.
I'm using a claw with LS and I did make sure to apply the passive. You might be right about the lack of base physical damage, as it is quite low on my claw (22-41). Thanks for the response. :) ⚡ Lightning Golems:

sorry to dig an old thread.
if I use a STAFF, a melee weapon by my definition. should fit the description. can I use that with Spectral Throw? how about with spells? |

A little expirementation may have shown you the answers but:
A staff can be used with spectral throw. Spectral throw's only weapon restrictions are that you must be wielding a weapon, and that weapon must be melee, conditions which staves satisfy. Any skill that is a spell (has a casting time instead of attack time) can be used with any given weapon, or no weapon at all. Certain weapons can grant mods that boost spell damage, either via increased elemental damage mods or the generally applicable increased spell damage mod. These weapons include scepters, staves (staffs) and wands. I think daggers and claws can also receive caster mods, but I'm unsure. |
