I used Alt+F4 once. I admit it. And I can tell you that I only used it because I got Viper Striked again and again without any monster in the Room and no flasks left.

I lost tons of characters in HC, but they all died because i was careless.

If I can avoid a Desync death like I described above I will gladly use alt f4. Nothing to be ashamed of.


BTW. Alt+F4 is not only a HC thing. I am sure high level standart player use it too.

Pretty much this. While my highest default character is only something like level 76 i must have used alt+f4 at least 10 times, while my highest HC character, who is lvl 82 took the alt+f4 route precisely once, during a desync related freak-accident with perpetus - why? because the option exists.

I enjoy both/all leagues and really don't see the problem with alt+f4 and i'd say the assessment of HC being all about gearing for altefffourability is a bit of a stretch. To those who'd prefer a 10 second timer on alt+f4: would you honestly prefer to lose xp or your character in case of server crashes, network disconnects, client crashes or bugs just so someone else can't play the way they want? would you default-only folks really prefer if even more hc characters with high end gear die to mess with the default economy even more? the game can't and probably never will be able to differentiate between alt+f4, disconnects and/or crashes, so if you really prefer to potentially gimp yourself just so someone else can't alt+f4 then... well... you baffle me.

But yeah, i never understood all this default vs. hc nonsense anyway.

Ps.: on a semi-related note: as an ex-default-player and now pretty much hc-convert i do have to say that altf4-core is a silly name... if you'd step foot into hc you'd know that WTBMercVaalkillcore is a much more fitting name and way more hilarious in light of the predominant hc-superiority - sheesh, i swear that at least 50% of the HC population doesn't dare to solo merc vaal. (let's hope this statement derails this thread... since derailment is needed)

Its just a shame that so many people are bothered by what others do. I could never understand the logic of 'Standard' league players hating on HC players who use altf4. Why would it bother you :=/ I've used it once, ever.

Tbh, i forget about it most the time and try to survive. Died so many times in HC but thats part of the deal. Most my deaths are by desync where ive been stupid and smashed quicksilver flasks whilst running through an obstacle course of pillars and posts, only to find im still back in room 1. that is completely my fault, as i knew it could happen but was careless. :(

GGG have already stated their stance on alt+f4 and are happy where it is atm afaik.

i like watching hardcore streams on twitch and watching them scramble to alt f4 and or hit there macro for the auto logout button like damn thats really hardcore

I wish that Alt-F4 would not work then all the prose could play real hardcore or IRL if they did that get strong kick into their nuts. Lol then they could choose press Alt-F4 or strong kick In to their nuts. :D

People all hating on alt+f4 when its safer and faster to use a fast logout macro.
