Tips for Act II boss?

Hey all

Since this was added in the last patch, I've yet to kill this thus unable to progress through the games higher difficulties.

I've found the encounter more frustrating than fun but rather than simply giving up, I'd like to here what you guys have done to defeat this bad boy.

I've tried this on a Sword/Board Templar (normal) and a Claw shadow (Diff after Normal) with little success. I've had max Lightning resist and tried the running around bit all to no avail. You simply cannot get enough hits into the boss to do any significant damage.

So guys, what did you do?

Wait until he start summon monsters. When he's doing it attack him, he will not attack you with his smashing blow.
Run around him killing summoned monsters and wait till he start summon again.
And you need to have min 400 health + 65-75 lightning resistance on normal difficulty to be able stand against his lighting strike if it hit you. And more health on further difficulties.
If you run out of potions - jump in portal.
Sorry for my English, it's not my native language.
Skeleton totem to tank him, kill minions if you want, run around frantically when boulders are falling randomly everywhere.
Kill the ranged minions.

Run when he shoots ice, 95% of the time he'll start shooting his "lasers" next.

Take your time. Run away when low on HP/ES.

Abuse portals if you really cannot beat him.

OK guys, thanks for the help. With your suggestions I was able to get through to Cruel on my Templar and Ruthless on my claw shadow. Using everything you guys have suggested my brilliant new strategy or "Act II Boss Strat for useless nubs" is:

1. Collect 30 portal scrolls. The more the better
2. Create port at the entrance (or just before the entrance if you are not the gambling type).
3. Engage boss and make sure you move as far away from the entrance as posible
4. Using all your evasive skills, get close enough for a few good hits
5. Die
6. go back through the portal that you created earlier.
7. go to step 2 and repeat until boss is dead or you run out of portal scrolls.

... OK , OK, the strat sucks but it works :)

Thats the exact same tactic I used yesterday. He´s just a pain in the ... even on normal.
Really? I beat him on Normal and Cruel the other day, and found him to be fairly easy with a ranger. I died about a dozen times trying to kill Oak, but only once trying to kill this guy.

- Get lightening resist, avoid his laser, don't step in the ice. It's helpful if you have a Dispel Chill flask on hand in case you end up stepping in it.

If your lightening resist is low he will 1-shot you, but get it high enough and you can mitigate it fairly well.

Maybe in Ruthless it'll be another story, but I had no issue taking him on.
I was really afraid to enter this fight in cruel at the two week race, as people post threads like this.

However, I found that with my max resists and 1400 life, his melee explosion was no danger.

However, the construct adds he summons hit like trucks. So clear them away fast, or stun him when he starts to summon.

Also, as they said, run zig-zag when he casts ice. Laz0rs are next.

I think some people run around too much. You want to be in melee range most of the time. As the falling rocks won't hit you. only run out if you can't take his melee hit, and once he has almost finished covering the ground in ice.

"That's how you die properly, Sailor Boy.."
Just keep running around him in circles, killing his summons and hitting him. You can dodge the lasers and his big hit easily. The summons will miss you if you keep moving.

I beat him on my first try.
He is very easy if you follow him what he does.

He has 3 different type of arms (one is in front of him that he will use, while other 2 are back). Watch them carefully. When he moves the blue arm toward you (he needs a second or two to switch his arms), it means he will probably use the laser, so run away. His big melee attack is very slow, so you have time to move away also. Use attacks like leap slam, and shield charge to run away from his heavy attacks.

This is the best boss and generally most fun fight for me in whole game.
