To all the melee players out there...

Did the patch help or hurt your build?

I think melee still gets overshadowed by ranged greatly.
Especially bow users since they also got benefits from the physical damage buff.

What do you guys think?

How has this affected your build?

Me, i lost a lot of life so now burst damage and monster crits and chargers are more dangerous than ever.

Looks like its time to farm catacombs forever since thats mostly ele damage.

lost about 1k life,gain 2k dps and some armor.normal monster seem to do really really low dmg now but dangerous one and boss still do ridiculous dmg and since we lost a lot of hp...burst dmg is even worste then before.


my overall survavibility seem higther then before,dps/kill speed also went up but boss and some burst dmg pack of mobs is more dangerous then before.

I think that bosses do even more damage than they did before tbh.
Well, I actually die a lot faster after the patch, and desync is still a thing, so I'm probably just gonna end up deleting my melee characters.
im tank FP user dmg is minimal less than before is acceptable though, so im happy is not got killed to ground just minimal change

im ci user my es is dropped by ~700 while mobs hit same
3% max res less so mobs hit also more I didn't use max res aura so is not so bad (ele adaptaion 5% > 2%)
res nodes was nerfed too bad not act to me I have res much more than 80% that still give me max res even with ele weakness map modes

granite flask even nerfed 4k > 3k give 2 more survivability than before that show armor got boosted a lot

endurance charges that I uses max 5 got nerfed my 25% from changes got dropped to 20% is hurt

overall I just have to use molten shell and granite flask more often so I tank as before with it or even more

over all I just have to pay attention more to my es to pumb granite flask to heavy melee hiters and bosses that make me sleep less on mapping :D

I though that patch will kill my CI but I still like my tank build after patch but yeah is a bit harder to tank mobs now but is possible like before

BTW FP spell is melee TOO is spell but in totally MELEE range :P (so is good idea use fp when use tank build over all ^^ )

FP is not melee.
i'll just post what i wrote up elsewhere.

I'm a physical DW duelist, and after the patch i would say I had about 1-2k dps increase. I lost about 700 hp, so i thought, okay, enemies are weaker now, let me refund some life nodes and spec them into damage, after that I gained another 1-2k of dps. With slightly lower health now, But now i kill noticeably faster.

I didn't give myself a full respec, just used some spare refund points to get back some life nodes.

Melee only got a moderate increase in damage, but 0 increase in survivability. We still need plenty of HP nodes. and I feel more vulnerable now since my HP regen is lower due to having a smaller life pool, and my damage reduction from endurance charges and resistances are weaker as well.

Basically what happened was you took 1 step forward and 2 steps backward. You cant give us a decent damage increase then nerf our other survivability tactics. You've basically just made melee that don't use Kaom's just as frail as ranged. Rhoa's, hard hitting elites, hell, even physical reflection now in maps cripple us and can kill us very easily. and when it takes freaking 20 hrs worth of playtime to get a level after 80 that just kills any motivation to play.

Wow it would seem as though GGG doesnt want anybody to see the discontent by melee players and everyone else who was hit hard by this patch since they keep moving it to BETA feedback knowing full well that its a deadzone.

So please tell me what should be in General discussion, topics about how we all love the new voices of the NPCs or how awesome it is to be FPer right now because it was an overall buff?

This was meant to stay in general because i wanted the GENERAL consensus of the melee community which has been obliterated this patch, the only melee players that got buffd were the ones that for some foolish reason went all damage and no life, so theyre slightly more viable (albeit probably still crap) and the rest are less viable.

Similar experience. Took my dual-wield Ranger and specced a good portion of points into the duelist highways for damage than the Templar highway. Lost 1k HP (4.5k to 3.5k HP) and gained 2k+ DPS. Tried doing a Lunaris run, and the lvl 67 mobs are swiping chunks off my life unlike anything I've seen before. And Kole? I used to tank him like a boss. Now, I can get nearly one-shotted. Needless to say, I'm going to round a few more regret orbs and just respec out of damage passives, armor, and block because it isn't worth it. Life is more important than ever before for melee characters.
