So what happened is you got hit 3 times by the chain (twice on you, once on the AoE from your totem). The first one hit you for 140% normal damage, the second one hit you for 180% normal damage, and the third one hit you for 220% normal damage.
All in all, the damage you took was the equivalent to more than 5 crits all at once. You were bound to die from that. That doesnt make it good game design, but it's likely not an issue with base damage numbers. IGN: Iolar

" As players we think of LA as doing almost entirely lightning damage because we stack up WED and have WED support in there and stuff, but an NPC should be doing 50% physical 50% lightning with LA. Given that you had 75% lightning resistance, the lion's share of the damage was physical. That being the case, one could expect a melee character with 20k armor and 5+ endurance charges to take considerably less damage than you. That said, it is pretty obviously still over-tuned, but again, I tend to think it is a symptom of the larger problem of the way shock works, rather than that particular boss being broken. |

" You are completely right. I do run with Molten shell and 3 end charges though could not keep the charges up on the boss as I could simply not be close enough without endangering my self to much. Still wasn't good enough hehe An easy fix could be that his LA attack did a lot less dmg by it self that would mean no 1 shot deaths if somewhat properly geared and give time to use a topaz flask or run away before the next attack. Maps are still intended to be hard. Bosses in higher tier maps are intended to be terrifying.
We will check map bosses on an ongoing basis to make sure they are around the right level, but from around level 70 maps onwards you should expect them to become increasingly unreasonable. We want high level maps to provide challenging experiences even for the most extreme players and characters. | |
