About new passive names

I agree. It was a pointless change. That there was more than one "strong arm" or whatever was not an issue. Did that really deserve someone's time being spent doing that? I always find it painful to watch game companies fixing things that don't need it, when there are plenty of real problems that need addressing, and presumably when done in the name of "accessibility". Things never go well once they set off on that path.

Thought Beef was an exaggeration

Then I found it on the tree

Basically it was done for the sake of the new challenge for the new leagues.

Still, I saw "Beef" and I loled hard. Such a shame I need to respec out of it for more life nodes.

Hey guys. I did all of the notable renaming, as well as all the original notable naming, all of the Keystone flavor text, and a ton of unique item flavor texts. If you've got a "beef" with the new names, take it up with me :P

In all seriousness, I went with a class-based theme for some of the renaming, an idea that I plan to explore more down the road. The node "Beef", which has a cool double meaning, was originally intended for the Maruader's part of the tree, but it works well enough for the Duelist. "Beef" is a decent synonym for "brawn", and it has the cool extra meaning of "having a grudge". It works well for melee classes, trust me, it'll grow on you :)

It's honestly really easy to come up with high-fantasy names for everything, but frankly, I think that's a little boring. I went with some more creative angles on the notables this time around, just to mix things up. I hope you'll agree that "Grave Consequences" is a cooler name for the summoner node than something like "Undead Mastery" or whatever.

As others have pointed out, it was necessary to rename a lot of notables to make them distinct for the purpose of the League Challenges.

Still don't agree with Arm Wrestling, Weight Lifting, and Holy Resolve being down in Duelist's area. :P

Aside from that, the new notable names are one of my favorite 0.11 features. It's much easier to say "Does your templar even Weight Lift?" than "Did your templar take the Fitness node above the +1 power charge?".

I guess if this is how naming is going to be done in the future I'll get used to it. More thematic names can be good but it just sprung up so abruptly.

Plus "Beef" really is a bad name- it means many more things than just "muscular." (Maybe that's lost in translation between US and NZ?)

It would be nice if the +1 Charges could be demoted from Notable status so at least they don't all have different names. There are too many words to associate with charges now, it is difficult to keep track of what the words mean now. Are they Stamina charges or Endurance charges? Oh no, they're Vigor charges! The name for the passive nodes have become misleading. OK- experienced player won't be thrown off by something like that but not everyone is experienced. Themes are nice, but some consistency is nice too.

Hmm, Holy Resolve shouldn't be there, as it's definitely a Templar-related term. If I can't find a better place for the name, I'll just change it. Thanks for the feedback, glad you like the new names!

As I mentioned on alpha *glare*, Steel Resolve is a good name. The other Armor node in Duelist's area is Steel Skin, so it fits well.

Make sure to work in venison and mutton in there somewhere down the line.
