Toggling show loot

With the new iteration of looting system Chris has told us about in the developer discussion thread on Looting http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/392 I brought up a few things about the functionality of show loot.

Most people are probably used to holding the alt key or similar while they play their ARPG's but I tend to find it tedious and detracts from my skill-using hand.

With a limited time in which good loot is allocated to the player, it is important that they know when something drops. Fair enough if the player is looking away and misses it, they are not paying attention to their game, but I don't believe it should be necessary to keep your thumb plastered to the alt key the entire time your playing.

So. There should be the option of holding alt or whatever key to show loot, but there should also be a key for toggling loot to stay shown, including new items as they drop. To avoid your screen being cluttered up with things you don't care about you would be able to select in an option menu the kinds of items you would want shown by the toggle show items. Of course if you have cleared an area and there is nothing more you want, you can toggle it off, or if the item names are getting in the way of moving and fighting in battle, you can toggle it off with a single press and get back to fighting, maybe using your press and hold show loot key a few times in the battle to check up on things.

What do you guys think? Be kind to my left thumb(show loot presser)

i actually have no issues with holding alt, saying that though a toggle would be much better
I'm all for a loot filter. Picking up every single item just to check how many sockets it has could get mighty tedious.
Toggle is OK for me as long as there are filter options. Otherwise I definetely don't want it. But with filter options it's better than current.

Filters would be really nice. That way you can focus on items above a certain rarity, specific types of items, or specific mods. You could even filter by recency so newly dropped items are displayed for a few seconds before being hidden.

The filters could use a series of checkboxes for the more common filters like rarity but there should also be keyword filtering for more advanced players.

Definetly like the idea of the toggle option! I also like the idea of different filters...

But one additional suggestion could be useful:
A button with which you can take everything that is on the ground in a small radius around the player at once... Of course there are filter options needed as well!

Why not? It worked well in sacred 2 e.g. even if i didn't like the game at all... But maybe it destroys the intense feeling the devs want to have when an item drops... What do the others think?

And just another thing about loot: Do you know if gold drops are picked up automatically... I really liked that in pretty much every game i saw and i think manual gold pick does not really seem to be up-to-date...
Auto loot removes any danger associated with the whole process. I don't like it.
