Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

Well, whatever. I listed the possible options that have been discussed in my post just below Bex's.

If you can't think of anymore and have no more unique input on the ones that have been mentioned, I believe it would be best to stop posting.

Just filling the thread with pointless posts filled with the same information will not help anything.

Hey guys,

just a heads up that Path of Exile is not an American company nor is it based in USA. We are not governed by American law inclusive of Freedom of Speech. However, if you would like to have an idea of what ways you'd be asked to restrict your conversation you should read through our Terms of Use - https://www.pathofexile.com/legal/terms-of-use-and-privacy-policy and perhaps return this thread to it's original topic.

Thanks so much :)

but you sure love our american money :)

i am not PAYING to think of how i can have fun...i am getting PAYED to do the thinking
i am posting here since like page 200, i (among with countless others )have provided feedback of why ffa system is bad

i have even acknowledged that FFA is an enforced PvP rule in the PvE experience
it is NOT my problem to fix, GGG must fix it or at LEAST be honest with everyone and say that THIS (WHATEVER) system is the system of this game, we love all the players but no more talks about that....

now if you are PAYING to solve problems you seriously doing it wrong...

PoE is a game, as a game must provide FUN to the players, not problems to be solved by the players....

all we want after this near 900 pages thread is a clear answer and we have every right to whine/post/qq/whatever till we get this answer....

you and all the FFA defenders CANT' tell to the players "shove off" it IS NOT YOUR game...it is GGG's game. The CHIEF developer himself created this thread, we gave all the sides of the coin...now we DEMAND either answers or fix..end of story....i am not getting payed to solve this problem

I'm going to give you some advice. And think hard on it before responding.

Learn English well (not just enough to type in grammatically correct sentences) before you talk to people who speak English well.

The reason I say that is simple: You did not understand the post you quoted at all. You read so far into it, it wasn't even my post anymore. As long as you can't understand what I say, you have no right to correct me and tell me what I said. :|

I'm going to say what I said again, as simply as possible, so you might understand it.

Do not bother posting unless you have something new to say or haven't said anything yet. You've been here since page 200, apparently. Anything worth while you might've said has been said by now.

Oh, and use caps lock/shift and punctuation less. It makes it painful to read your posts when it feels like you are screaming every other word.

i answered exactly in your post...you just refuse to accept it
you are the one that havent' understand anything....like...you cant' tell people to shut up cause you dont' like their voice (or bumps in the No1 thread of the general/beta general forums)

com' on be more creative please...do not attack me for the bad english only (comprehend / writing skills)

;)
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself
My point proven.

I'm just gonna repost this.

Spoiler
I'm just gonna summarize possible solutions that have been discussed in order of popularity (based on who have talked in this thread).

1. Options.

i.e. loot choices based on group. For example: I can choose pure FFA, allocated loot, or the weird hybrid GGG has going on now between the two.

2. Instanced.

i.e. each player's loot is separated by instance the same way quest items and events are (think Piety in Prisoner's Gate blocking the way forward).

3. Allocation.

i.e. the game server distributes loot accordingly.

4. Pure FFA.

i.e. No timers. No restrictions. Just the loot falling and anyone can pick it up. Period.

5. The current hybrid. (which hasn't been advocated as a solution, thus why it's last)

i.e. Things as they are now.

6. Separate leagues with different loot systems, varying from the above. *recently added*

The order is based on my own impressions and not me or anyone else counting up who wants what.

I vote for pure FFA myself.

Problems people have brought up (whether others consider them valid or not), in order.

1. Options

Splits the player base.

Makes the game easier for some while leaving it hard for others.

Goes against GGG's vision for the game.

2. Instanced.

Less rolls per player. Effectively meaning less loot overall.

Depending on implementation, can be hard on server resources.

Goes against GGG's vision for the game.

3. Allocation.

Teaches entitlement.

Goes against GGG's vision for the game.

4. Pure FFA.

Can make it hard to get good loot and currency. Which this game depends on.

5. The current hybrid. (which hasn't been advocated as a solution, thus why it's last)

Feels like a cop out to appease player criticisms of the loot system when it actually doesn't.

Players loot can be stolen.

6. Separate leagues with different loot systems, varying from the above. *recently added*

Splits the player base.

Goes against GGG's vision for the game.

I probably missed some, so feel free to remind me of them or add to it yourself.

Making a comprehensive list of pros and cons would be nice, I think.

The whole "vision" thing is based on how they had it set up originall, i.e. pure FFA and the reluctant changes in the loot system so far.

Well, yes.

However, from what I know, the game started out as something that was being made for GGG, by GGG. Then evolved to more than that.

Call it what you will, but that's not very constructive.

And honestly, it's free to play. They are developing it. They can do what they wish. If people sunk money into it but don't like how it is now, that sounds like a personal problem.

Edited for clarity.

You're wrong but then again you're only here for the giggles isn't it? You don't have any freedom of speech on a private forum. These are the GGG forums, they lay down the rules of what you are allowed to write and what not.
Geez, this is becoming quite the trolling thread. As far as I know, and I've been on various forums since usenet times, and all I can say is that while the Freedom of Speech political right does not apply to the internet, the freedom of expressing one's opinion on any forum (public or private) is a given, unless otherwise specified, i.e. until the mod contacts You or kicks You out.
Since this is a private forum, and killbilly were an offender, I suppose the moderator would already have silenced his (offensive or OT) output, no?
When they made the game available to public they exposed it to both praise and critic.
So someone who praise the game cannot say to the critics "dont critic anymore". And viceversa.
So you can kiss the game's ass and developers's asses as long as you want/please but you cannot tell those who dont like that to stop doing it.
