Actually loot options would be one step toward a successful game.

That's your opinion. And I think your opinion is dumb, and wrong.

Well, I don't give a shit what you think. Loot options will create a higher retention rate. It allows the game to appeal to more people.

Fan boys are immune to facts.

Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Right

I don't see what your point is. If it's that that type of behavior is bad for companies, I can't agree.

Steve Jobs told people what they wanted for years and made millions off it.

I am most likely older than you, but seriously who gives a shit. If you don't want players to have loot options its not name calling, its a fact, you are a loot whore.

Difficulty should derive from encounters with monsters and PvP. click on items will NEVER be challenging or engaging in ANY way.

I like being a lootwhore as you call me, keeps the orbs coming in. We play the game as it is designed by GGG. If they can fix the blocking that people do to prefend people getting loot that problem will be gone too. Keep crying, your tears taste wonderful kiddo.

Nobody here is crying and kudos for you for admitting that you are a loot whore. Fortunately, I don't need to bottom feed like you. I don't play with randoms. My main problem is simply the loot clutter when playing high level maps with friends. The screen spam is annoying.

We all play the game designed by GGG... some of us want the game to appeal to a broader audience while not dumbing down the content. Adding loot options does not dumb down the content in any way, it simply makes it appeal to a broader audience.

Yes, because clicking on loot is soooo hard. I have no issues with difficulty, game is actually quite easy for someone who knows that they are doing.

So since you admit you have no problem clicking on loot, there's no reason for you to be crying over someone ninja`ing your portal scroll right?

I have not once mentioned 'ninja' looting. I am not a scrub. I don't play in public groups, this is not a problem for me. At the same time, I am not a random bottom feeder so I don't have an issue with looting options. Enjoy stealing scrolls in public games there baddie.

If something could be done to prevent the screen clutter that comes with more people in a party I would be an advocate of pure FFA looting, but as long as the entire screen is nothing but loot clutter in every combat situation I will be letting the devs know that the current system is broken.

While I am at it, give us a hostile button! You cannot have loot tension without world PvP. Sorry, looting in a PvE environment will NEVER be exciting/engaging/challenging/competitive. Now if I could simply hostile other people in the party, kill them, and take all their loot.... now that is loot tension. Cut-throat can't come too soon!

i play both type.
maps are only loot to name.

i hope to have option to set on/off FFA in the future.

but in a way NOT to kill current FFA system.

if non FFA option comes out without any penalties or benefits stays the same as ffa then majority of players will never use FFA ... and that will be a huge problem.

having an option to FFA/Non FFA and then give some kind of quality quantity bonus boost to FFA, will be a nice way to go... i believe.

in this way people shouldn't have any problem since they get an option to "choose".

Why would this be a problem? If a majority of people would never use the FFA option then what is the REAL problem? It seems to me that this sheds light on the actual problem, the majority of pople do not like the loot system.

I seriously doubt that.

The "real" problem changes depending on who you ask.

For the devs, it's deciding how to keep the game the way they want while still catering to as many people as they can. Because money.

For hardcore players, it's people playing a game that wasn't designed for them and was given to them for free asking for things that weren't ever meant to be a part of the game.

For softcore players, it's people taking what they consider to be their loot.

For you, it's your screen being cluttered.

For me, it's stupid people.

This was a good patch, it makes me happy their sticking to their guns on this topic. Now we can play closer to how they would like their game played, and not that name calling, crying, "ninja" bs. Also glad to see based on Chris' post that he feels the same as most of the pro FFA camp, that the names on the items were just first dibs and that's it. Argument got squashed finally.

I really see no point in removing a feature that helped people play respecting the first dibs thing.
It does not affect players who don't respect the loot allocation, so why not leave it there?

Its first dibs for a period of time. I have no intention of arguing over this, as this is how the mouthpiece for the dev team stated he wanted it.

Everytime i look at public games they are abysmally low and for good reasons.

I for one refuse to play a public game till the loot timer is either greatly increased or completly removed.

If removed ill only take what i need \and ofcourse try to talk it off the other guy who might have taken something i need(remember those long talks in d2 with 2 guys while youre trying to progress?).

If increased greatly then ill have lots more time to play and finish what we as a party are doing before breaking and run for loots.

i hate the idea of the game saying "This is yours!! quick get it omg get it!! stop playing now and come get it befor awww someone else took it tough luck trololo" Thats like the biggest trolling a game mechanic has ever done.
This change was pretty funny because it did nothing to address either side of the argument.

Pub games remain unchanged - people will still hover over loot and try to take it.

The change only affects a party of friends who would play by loot to name - now there is virtually no way to get all the items that were on your timer (especially when mobs die off screen).

All in all this change only affects the game negatively. Anyone who wants to play cutthroat style and take what they want can still do that - players who like playing with their friends and enjoy diving their now have a harder time doing this.
