Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

Well I for one am glad to see the removal of names. The increase in the timer will only be truly noticeable for ranged anyhow.

This was a good patch, it makes me happy their sticking to their guns on this topic. Now we can play closer to how they would like their game played, and not that name calling, crying, "ninja" bs. Also glad to see based on Chris' post that he feels the same as most of the pro FFA camp, that the names on the items were just first dibs and that's it. Argument got squashed finally.

Of course people will find something else to complain about now.

holy ***.... this new thing fails badly...

I really see no point in removing a feature that helped people play respecting the first dibs thing.
It does not affect players who don't respect the loot allocation, so why not leave it there?

Agreed. They need to stop with the compromise and just give options. The current system is a bastardized FFA. People who like FFA would rather play true FFA, people who like instanced would rather play true instanced... it makes no sense to create a system that displeases both sides. OPTIONS!

You already have an option, play another game with instanced loot and leave this game alone. The game will be doing fine without you.

Seriously tho...

Im sick of seeing the word OPTIONS. I would like an option for a forum MUTE button just to mute these players once and for all.

Its never, ever gonna happen. As long as real options already exists.

Loot option is just one step toward Care A Lot..

Actually loot options would be one step toward a successful game. What real options currently exist? The only option is playing solo. Which is how I most enjoy the game anyway.

Doesn't really effect me too much as I will just play solo. Loot clutter makes party play unbearable.

I want GGG to succeed. This is by far the best game of its type on the market hands down. I have been supporting them longer than you have been around and I will continue to be. I will also continue to inform them that the current iteration of the loot system is terrible. The amount of loot dropped in party play is insane. The best solution I see to this is instanced loot.

The only issue you could have with giving people options would be that there is nobody to join your FFA party because if presented with a choice the majority of the community would play with instanced loot.

The better option is to find a single loot system that everyone can live with, and the current system does exactly that. It provides elements of both FFA and instanced. It's fine exactly the way it is.

I could not disagree more. The current system is the worst of both worlds imo. You still have the loot clutter of FFA and you still have the entitlement of allocation.

Personally I would be all for going back to PURE FFA instead of the compromised system. Pure FFA or Pure instanced are the only options imo. I like pure FFA, I don't like this system... I like pure instanced, I don't like this system.

That's your opinion. And I think your opinion is dumb, and wrong.

Well, I don't give a shit what you think. Loot options will create a higher retention rate. It allows the game to appeal to more people. This is not opinion, it is a fact. The only people against loot options are public loot whores. I can understand not liking FFA, I can understand not liking allocated, but if you are against options then I can only assume you are an asshat that trolls public games trying to take everything that drops while contributing nothing to the party...

Agree.

Not sure how you could be against having options for groups. Here's an option: don't join groups that don't follow your same mindset!

Sounds like this game is to hard for you and you need it made easier. Want a button on the screen that gives you free loot every time you click it? Or how about a option added in the game to make it so you can never die, that would be good too right? Lulz.

Yup name calling will make the devs (who dont read this thread anyway since there is a new feedback thread) listen to you.

Don't play a game when it not suites your playstyle.
