Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

What end game issues?

And whatever those issues are, this is not what this thread is about.

With endgame issues he probably means bad RNG x)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Still holding out hope for selectable loot options for party leaders. Adding a choice for all preferences is never a bad thing GGG. Especially when people join parties and ignore the descriptions calling for no ninja and ninja anyway.
the loot timers are junk, they are to short and some times even if you click and keep clicking on a item you do not pick it up or even try to pick it up.

two things need to happen 1 the times should all be the same, some times loot has long timers other times it goes by so fast and the timers should be at least 20-30 secs long as thats long enough for the guy it droops for to pick it up and not to long as to slow the pace of the game down

2 when you keep clicking on loot it should pick it up not just do nothing till some one else picks it up

Or just get rid of timers and make it ffa only as seeing some thing droop for you then it not letting you pick ti up just pisses people off

All various opinions aside, I think most people are in agreement that, if the system is to be the way it is, then we need a longer timer.

I know, some people have the timer all together, while others want fully-insanced and yadda yadda ... but assuming it is to be this way ... I have heard MANY, MANY people suggest a longer timer, as in, 2-3 times as long, and I haven't yet seen one person disagree.

*facepalm.

Whats the point of 2-3 minute long timers?

Id think no one would disagree or agree, because no way in hell GGG would do something that lame.

2-3 minute timers.... My god, how drunk does one have to be to think 2-3 minutes is needed in a FFA style game. Let alone think this would even happen

How about no one gets a timer allocated to them. Just timers with NO names. Now everyone has to wait for every other drop. We can all stand around 2 minutes telling jokes chuggin beers and waiting.

Sounds like a drinkin party...

Could you point out the line where he say's 2-3 minutes? I was pretty impressed with your trolling to start with but it's going downhill fast, maybe crawl back under your rock for a while and think up some more crap.
I think the idea of the loot system is good but when ppl get lag bad in parties it sucks. shit i even lag in solo mode when alot of enemies appear on screen, and my computer runs any other game great.

I liked the loot system till an exalted orb dropped right in front of me with my name on it, i clicked on it 3 times, never picked it up and someone else got it. I didnt bitch in party but it was just crappy, so now im all for a new loot system :P
Increasing timers would be bad, it would slow down the game tremendously, especially if changed to 20/30 seconds like someone suggested above me, ridiculous. Suggesting something like that just shows you're not really thinking about any consequences to the flow of the game whatsoever.

Since increasing timers which slows down the game is a stupid thing to do, you can forget about GGG doing so.

That leaves you with full FFA without timers or FFA with the current timers, which I'm fine with as a ranged character even, because I'm at least getting all my loot and don't die at the same time for some weird reason. Or Instanced loot like some of you have been promoting.

Actually I'm just for GGG fixing the pathing issues and "not being able to pick up your item" issues, but who knows how long that will take.

If the current timer system remains, removing the names from items to prevent entitlement issues gets a huge plus from me.

How will it slow it down? it's not like you have to wait for the timer if your name is on it.

How does it slow down?

All yellows always get picked up by the people who have the timers.

Blue items with timers are never 'queued' for.

Currency always gets picked up.

There is no plausible reason why anyone would be waiting for timers to end if it's not likely that the timer ends before the timer owner can react. If there is one I'm not aware of it, could you elaborate what are the item kinds that people don't pick up that others will?

If it was simply an option then people would only be using it if they WANTED to play at that pace.
