Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

1) options for party leader
2) if not #1 then generally longer timers
3) make character actually pick up items with one click instead of a mad click&pray

The system at the moment is frustrating and most of my friends hate it also and it probably contributed to some of them quitting already since public groups are just annoying, especially on lower levels.

Nothing much more to add, just wanted to add my dissatisfaction with the current system to the voice of the mass.

You really believe that this is just a problem of people not understanding how the game works, don't you?

Of course not. I think the biggest problem is people have major mental issues which has nothing to do with the game at all.

IF you know how the game works, then you can't honestly sit there as say the LOOT SYSTEM IS BROKEN. FIX IT! People STEAL MY DROPS.

Maybe GGG should hire Dr. Phil and he can slowly explain how to play alone or with friends.

Yeah because that sounds reasonable.
Maybe you will find that the biggest problem is in your mirror.

You can be an expert on how the game works and still think that the loot system is a nonsensical inconsistent piece of crap.

Vooodu comes back.
Spoiler
Thread becomes a bitching fest involving lots of swearing instantly.

But again, you're telling people that they have severe mental issues because they don't share your vision of the loot mechanics. You are the definition of ignorance, if you want my opinion. (But of course you don't, because no other opinions exist.)

If nothing was broken and the game was 100% perfect as you claim it to be, there would not be

1) Open Beta, the game would be fully released. It is not, meaning things ARE able to change.
2) Forums. They're here so people can provide feedback on what mechanics are and are/not to their liking.
3) People actually on these forums with anti-FFA stances.

Im just telling it how it is. If you refuse to deal with it, its not my problem.

You just want to keep digging and digging for a response from me you don't like. That way you can go whine to a mod a about it. And maybe get me banned again.

Hell, i still have that PM from you bragging about getting me banned for 5 days. That alone shows what state of mind you are in...lol

Wtf why did my "Party Type" suggestion thread get closed?

*sigh*

Okay I kind of give up on this, do whatever you want

Most likely because it also had loot-suggestions in it.

It wasn't 100% about loot, it was about parties.

The idea about members of parties being able to vote in certain events of the party, or the ability for the party member to have options when creating a specific type of party, while having the "public cuthroat" party type that is fast to create and fast to play with, but unforgivable and "unfair", etc
Those have nothing to do with loot, yet the thread gets closed.

Like...I do understand closing threads that say "lol loot sucks please fix it GGG kthxbye" and add nothing valuable nor productive to the community
But if there is a legit and valid suggestion about the whole issue, and not just the loot issue but other issues as well, why close that one?

I'll quote Charan:

As such, we're going to instantly lock any 'loot system' based threads for the time being. They're cluttering the forum and causing otherwise original and helpful suggestions to be pushed out of sight.

Apparently my suggestion was "cluttering the forum and causing otherwise original and helpful suggestions to be pushed out of sight".
And apparently my suggestion was not "original" nor "helpful" either

Seriously, this is just getting out of hand...

I have a possible loot solution that I don't think has been mentioned specifically but is based on several ideas already mentioned.

What if all items had short unnamed loot timers (3-5 seconds) and infinite (as large as the screen) pick up range? As soon as you click on an item it disappears on your screen or changes color (the game tells you that you have laid claim on the item so you don't spend the next couple of seconds madly clicking on the item). After the timer is up, the item is randomly distributed to one of the people who clicked it. If only one person clicked the item then he gets it. If no one clicked the item then it just sits there FFA.

The advantages of this system are that everyone has a chance to get an item that wants an item regardless of range, latency, and reflexes. People would have no excuse for not being able to get items. It also makes people have to pay attention and stops people from sitting around waiting for the loot timer to end. Pathing issues and other obstacles to getting to the loot would be eliminated. Pickit bots would also not have much advantage due to the fact that the average player should be able to adequately compete against them. This would also eliminate the feeling of having an item stolen because everyone has a fair chance and the items have no names.

This seems nice, it does solve some problems.

The party system would still need a boost though imo
Not only that, but since most of this thread is a flamefest between some selected people, my complaint will also be "buried" under all this shit.
Oh yeah, my suggestion in this thread and my suggestion thread will also be buried completely and forgotten into oblivion.

Nice, real nice
Also Vooodu you haven't responded to any single point I made, nor to any direct question I asked you.

Do you really expect me to take you seriously when you can't even answer simple questions?
If you somehow missed them, then I advise you not to post so much flaming and bitching so posts like mine don't get buried and never get seen by you ;)

Everyone knows how it is. We just don't like it and we think that there are plenty very good reasons to change how it is and also very few reasons not to change how it is.

I'm noticing the same thing. He only ever responds to the flame posts against him or FFA, and completely ignores the ones that are actually trying to provide input to the discussion.
