You really should not lie about leaving the discussion. It gets peoples hopes up.

Discussion implies discussing. I have left the discussion. I'll discuss nothing. I'll only tell people the truth. I won't say which suggestions are right. Only the truth of how things are now.

Loot is not, currently, allocated.

Are you insane or just a troll? Read the first post on this thread. Chris uses the word allocate 7 times.

I read the first 5 or so pages, don't have time to read the next 600.

As far as I see, there are a few options to fix this issue:

The best option I have seen so far is to let the party leader pick loot style. Perhaps have 3 choices. One the current one, one with no timers at all and truly FFA loot, and one with permanent allocation, where your drops remain your drops. Everyone could still see other drops, but have them remain grey.

For me I would prefer an option where we can see other people's loot but cannot grab it at all, ever. "Cutthroat" shouldn't be a part of PvE imo. I am a PvP player, and that's where that aspect should remain.

In essence, the loot timers make it more of a slap in the face to not get "your" allocated loot. I recall seeing an exalted orb drop with my name on it; I saw it instantly and started making a run toward it. Not fast enough. That was the only exalted I have ever seen drop, and it was more of a slap in the face to have it have my name on it only to not get it, and I made a run for it the moment it fell. This is where the problem in this system lies.

I sincerely hope they change the loot system or just add more options, because as is, it is the one element that is worse than Diablo 3.

Why not take a poll?

I agree with this statemant - I have no decent comp and connection and often can't reach drop with my name on it - its really frustrating. There should be choice done by party leader with these quoted above options. I and many other players hate playing public party games by this timers.

Players who wanted an allocated looting system will hopefully be happy that this system mitigates item loss due to latency and travel distance.

^^^ Implies the current system is not allocation as you see it.

The type of allocation I mean is where the intent of the timer is to make sure the player who's name is on the timer gets the loot. That's also the type of allocation players in this thread want from what I've read.

However, that is not the timer's purpose. The timer is only to, and I quote, "mitigate item loss due to latency and travel distance." Not, allocate that item to that player to be certain he gets it, all other factors in game irrelevant.

Our system is not allocation. It is FFA with a timer to level the playing field. The system fails. That's not the point.

The simple fact that Chris explains how our current loot system should be good for both FFA and allocation supporters should show it's not an allocation loot system.

Oh dear, STILL people thinking it has to be one way or the other, talk about rigid minds.

Just because you personally don't care about losing currency en masse doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't.

>>>CHOICE<<<

I'm skeptical they could implement choice without creating other problems. otherwise, I agree.

I need items too, when I solo I cant kill things that fast with mf on, so really the party was earning the extra loot, my only point was that - because so many rares were falling it was actually disrupting the game because of the complaining.

When you play in a group there is overall LESS drops then if you each soloed - therefor it will always feel like you are not getting your fair share. Then when something does fall with your name and someone grabs it right as the timer expires it feels much worse then if it was just pure ffa and you just were not that fast - you would blame yourself not others in your group.
Sometimes when I think about how they put timers with names on it, I think they want to intentionally troll us. I remember GGG saying one time that "good news or bad news about our game is great because it gets people talking" - which gives the game more visibility. I think the same is being done here about loot, we know this is a hardcore game with a hardcore playstyle target audience in mind, and they almost want to see how much shit they can stir with putting names on the item. Imagine if no names were on the timer, there would be a lot less whining because nobody would know who the item should have belonged to. But of course
they put names on the item so you WOULD feel bad. Its like they want you to feel the highs
and lows of the game. If you didnt, well it would probably feel like d3.

You know whats boring? when theres no emotion left playing a game. This loot system is there
to make you feel great (when you take that item) and bad when you lose that item. Whether its
a positive or negative feeling, you feel something.

I think this is also the reason why some people (like myself are drawn to hardcore mode) because there are highs and lows. Victory and defeat. The game at the high levels is a filter
of who can work together best as a group, without you yourself dieing. Its interesting and refreshing. Kind of like prison escape. LOL

-Just some thoughts I felt like putting out there
The loot is still allocated for a certain amount of time regardless of the intentions for why it is being allocated.

Standard Forever
I get constantly insulted because I supposedly steal other ppls gear? Why don't these ppl understand it's not theirs when timer runs out? Simple, because of the stupid name under it.

i for one have stayed clear of public groups for this reason alone, i do not what to have to fight for MY drops.

the only time i will ever group up, is with m8s due to the fact we share the drops around, and if something drops with YOUR name on it, it gets left on the ground for you to pick up.

never liked the system from the start, and will stay well away from public groups if it stays :(

Maybe have it in hardcore sure, but the default league should be more casual, and it should feel that way too with the loot.
