Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" This is the most worrisome thing of all. It's very reminiscent of D3 developers telling us what we find fun. We KNOW what we like. Give us options and we'll choose it, stay longer, and probably spend more. In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.

" lol... This is nothing like D3, get your head out of your hiney hole. D3 devs removed all the fun features of d2.. They dumbed the game down, simplified it, WOW strike forced the game and focused on the AH. They over hyped a shitty game which delivered 1/4 of what they promised and charged everyone $60 for it. Thats what D3 did wrong. And really.. No one gives a rat ass if you think you know what you like. If you think you know what everyones likes.. Make your own game. The ultimate problem with that post is that I highly doubt GGG are particularly worried about money.
They want the game to keep going, don't get me wrong. But I doubt they are worried about losing massive amounts of "possible money" by making their game the way they want it. See, D3 was for the masses. PoE was for GGG. Then it evolved. And now everyone is playing it. I don't know, I would just expect GGG to be far more interested in making the game the way they envisioned versus making people happy and getting money for it. "They don't want money? Morons." No. Different. Dreams are greater than money. Because you can't always buy dreams. I could throw millions of dollars at a company and tell them to make me an epic hardcore ARPG that I've always wanted, and get something like D3. Which is nothing like I want. However, if I had the knowledge and skill to make it myself.... See where I'm going with that? These are just thoughts. Last edited by TremorAcePV#7356 on Feb 20, 2013, 9:57:34 AM

Wow The most hardcore(!) players on earth are back on the thread.
If it's gonna be cutthroat, and challenging, why do we still have nameplates ? Remove the nameplates, make it pure ffa. If you put nameplates on, you declare that someone owns that item.If he can't pickup in time because of conditions like high latency, low frame rate, desync, and If that item is taken by someone else that is pure theft, that is gaining advantage from a condition. You can't promote or defend theft in a game where you interact with actual humans. It will break the groups, therefore the society will perish. So that's why I'm saying that there should be 2 options.Pure ffa loot and Instanced loot, everyone is happy. If you make it pure ffa, then noone will be able to claim anything in a group, there will be cutthroat fest, tricks and whatnot like you always wanted. If you add an instanced loot option, people still wont be able to claim anything so they will focus on gaming and co-operating rather than looting. But If you do it like the current flawed system, it will only generate chaos, distrust, hatred, drama.Interaction and community will diminish, people will play alone or play with close friends only. "If GGG's dream was to go half-assed in creating an it's-hardcore-because-we-say-so-and-for-no-other-reason game like we have now, then tell me now so I won't waste time playing the next phase of the beta for a game that was, is, and always will be a gigantic, steaming pile of dog shit. ...but you know what, I think GGG is a bit more ambitious than that, and I think they're certainly capable of making the best ARPG out there right now. I also think you need to realize that money from microtransactions doesn't just satisfy greed. The more money this game makes, the more time the developers have to work on the game since their monetary needs are satisfied, and the more money they have to hire more developers. Therefore, more accessible game = more people playing = more people making microtransactions = bigger development staff = better game faster. An adjustable loot timer makes the game more accessible for everyone AND has no impact whatsoever on the game experience of the core audience. If you feel that it DOES have a negative impact on the core audience, then wait for Cut-Throat league and make THAT game mode have pure FFA w/ intra-party PvP. That's hardcore. |

" Sure is a lot of that going on around here. I don't see why the con side of the argument has to come in here thinking we're forcing GGG's hand to change the game into something you won't like. It's GGG's game, we get it, it is up to them... but this is for all intents and purposes our feedback on the game. Telling us to "put up or shut up" essentially is not the way to go. Also, keep your emotions out of your argument-making-process. That goes for everyone. Keep it calm and cool and try to avoid any logical fallacies, including ad-hominem -> in other words, play nice. Name-calling gets us nowhere. IGN: Mibuwolf

" if they wanted a game for themselves they would never open it in the world.... seriously PoE IS Business...some mouths are getting fed by it....yes it may not be in the mainstream AAA market but still they want to make money.....see the shop i.e. if they cared only for our fun why isnt' everything priced 0,10$ ??? stop making such blatant claims please When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself Last edited by killbilly#2346 on Feb 20, 2013, 11:20:37 AM

Perfect example why I hate the current system:
![]() Guess what? Even that top group that didn't say ninja=kick was a ninja=kick in disguise. IGN: Mibuwolf

Also even if they say ninja=kick, you can't really see who got which loot in that mess.
