I agree that co-op does not have any drawbacks aside from the frustrating loot system. What I want them to do is increase the challenge of multiplayer when they increase the loot timer.

I wholeheartedly agree that something must be done about FFA loot. It's fine in groups that you trust, otherwise it's awful ninjalootfest. Also maps should have a loot timer.
Right now it's nigh impossible to grab your own loot as ranged, with the amount of lag and chaos in 6 player groups.

The current system does an OK job at taking into account ranged players, but not cast time.
As a witch, if I am in the middle of casting something while standing right next to a drop that is allocated to me, I have virtually no chance to loot it, as some melee standing next to me will click unfettered.
Just now, I was casting Ice Spear and a Greater Multiple Projectiles dropped right on top of me. I just started last week, and aside from GMP being on my wish list, it represents an absolute fortune for me.
Point blank allocation is 1 second, and I was casting a 0.84 second spell. That gives me 0.16 seconds to click it before the timer goes out.
0.16 seconds. 160 milliseconds. Most people need between 190 and 250 ms to react, and that doesn't even account for connection speed. See http://www.humanbenchmark.com/tests/reactiontime/stats.php
What the hell am I supposed to do?
This would be mostly overcome if allocated items were hidden from other players while the timer was active. I think that idea deserves a long, hard look.

It is NOT "your" loot! your just get a CHANCE to grab it first!
with this system every1 should get nearly the same amount(!) of drops. you just need to be aware and grab it.

IF you would get your instanced loot with no drawbacks i can see people comming back here and complain even more about loot needs to be even more and even better.
That said, even i thing the loot system needs some fixing.
remove the name and the timers shown on items but keep the allocation as it is. furthermore dont show the allocated items to others as long as the timer runs. so no1 could camp an item, as he/she doesnt even know about it. when the timer runs out, it appears to everyone and is free to loot. so there is even a bit more time for the "chosen one" to grab it.
this way no1 (at least new players) could think by mistake it is HIS/HER item (no name, no timer; it just gets grabbed by some1 else after some time).
i can agree with you , i get extra man power for loot split okey its fine by me (standart mmorpg rule)
but... if i can lose mine loot that have mine Name on it its not fun :(
did you play D3 ? looting system = no ninjas :)

Exactly. Loot drops for the whole group. That the only ones that would actually pick the loot up are the ones that instead of dpsing to KILL mobs (which are the ones that DROP the loot) they will busy loot camping. Just an awesome loot system this FFA.

So if everyone is aware (and ofc, STOP killing mobs to loot gear while their party might as well be dying) the loot system from FFA becomes instanced. With the added "Feature" of loot camping!! Great system I'm telling you.

YOU ARE NOT KILLING MOBS IN A MUCH FASTER WAY. If you are busy loot camping from 2 to 8 seconds to grab someone else's gear, its valuable time that you waste doing nothing instead of dpsing. PERIOD. Also, moving around the instance to pick your gear AGAIN, lowers your dps output. You are pretty much leeching off the group.

Why in the fucking hell should there be a PRO for playing solo in a game that requires ALWAYS ON INTERNET CONNECTION and that essentialy is a multiplayer, since trading is a HUGE part of the game! Again, the problem with the current loot system IS NOT ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO GRAB YOUR GEAR. You people have to realize that the fact taht someone doesn't like FFA doesn't mean he can't grab his gear. Im the biggest ninja in the server, running a dagger + shield + maul witch so I can whirlwindloot, shieldslamloot, leaploot and warploot to grab your gear. Furthemore, I'm using a lot of summons so you can't click your loot, and walloot to block your path to your loot. I cna safely say that out of 10 uniques in every instance in a 6man party I manage to snag 5+ of them. BUT I STILL HATE FFA! Got it? Hating FFA =/= Grabing your loot.

Its hard, the issue in the moment, make a Lootchar, only HP and Resist nodes...
Try your own build, rerolling again and again, more fun than Maps.

If it were instanced, your progression and gameplay slows down drastically. This is undeniable.

I am playing the game as intended and yet I cant grab the loot as intended. I leapslam around for the group and stuff drops for me with 1 second timer. By the time my leapslam's smoke clears 4-5 ravenous ninja looters gobble up something that probably was an upgrade for me as I struggle to get my lightning res up on my first character.
Meanwhile players that know how to cheese the game and already have epic gear vacuum up 90% of my loot. I dont miss out on 1 or 2 items a run... Im lucky to get 1 or 2 items in 3 complete runs. You could tell me to change my character and not play with leapslam but that would only sorta prove my point. Meanwhile ill just keep playing solo with my tanker build....

can you provide us for some facts in this ? cause i find hard to understand that....
FFA slows down the gameplay (people stop dpsing to go to the loot) IL in the other hand has no need for that, i can dps the whole map and come back after to loot....
making claims out of head and implying that is undeniable w/o providing facts is....you know
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself
