Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
Vooodu is obviously just a teenager with a strong opinion on the matter, don't let him ruin the thread. He won't see the error in hiw ways no matter what you tell him, he simply isn't capable. So please don't keep responding to his outbursts.

" Yeah, here is the thing. The game does not say who picks up the loot and EVERYONE crowds around the loot piñatas. So pickit users would be concealead, after all they would appear to be doing what everyone else is doing. Heck, you even say you were accused of it! See, that's what poe needs, more loot drama. And you are lying saying it was not a big problem. Even in non bot games it was common as fuck. Also, you are contradicting yourself: in the same post you claim that bots were running pickit, but also that instanced loot will create a bot problem. Hint, it does not matter - D2 was full of bots running pickit, D3 is full of bots running whatever they run to pick the items. It does not matter wether you FFA or you instance, bots will happen anyways. The thing is, in FFA games bots will deny many people the chance of picking items. It will be awesome, the tireless poe players clearing instances for the chinese run bots to pick up the spoils of war. Anyways, no matter how you slice it, FFA loot is a problem. That is why it is not used these days. It is not about being wahwahwahkiddz or being hardcoerez, FFA loot had a long run and it was shown from all angles, it was a bad solution for loot allocation. The only guys who want FFA are those like you who expect to get more than their fair share. And as such, once pickit comes into play (and it will) you and the rest of the hardcoerez will adopt it. Because taking loot is great, having someone else take it is not that great. Or you will only play in private games with your friends. Which is great, yay you. But new players will not have a choice on that matter, they will have a miserable time and they will leave. And I hope to be wrong on this because I want the best for GGG despite some amateurish mistakes they make, but at some point in the future they will adopt a different way of handling loot that kills the FFA component, even if they just disguise it as a "longer timer to be fair to high ping players" or "longer pick range to avoid blocking exploits". And you and the rest of the hardcoerez will have to chose either to accept it and forget about the scrubcore griefing of taking items without fearing any type of reprisal like people going PK on you or hope in 10 years some other developer makes the mistake to devise a system that promotes griefing, makes the game miserable for newcomers and encourages players to use hacking tools. i put everybody on my friendlist who can play with fair loot rules in a team and the others on my ignore-list, so i dont have to trade/discuss with those peepz, the same with peepz who are scamming newbies with trades like 1 mirror for 1 alch and 10 wisdom scrolls and something...
its easy with poestatistics.com. i already have almost 100 players on my fl, so enough to play with fun in groups, but i still think the game would give much more motivation if we could play with stranger without the mixed feeling about a very good Drop. The Mirror for example, is like a royal flush you wont get it twice in 1 life (even 1 is hard to get)... So i always hoping that this wont happen, when im in a public group. That doesnt feel right... but i guess, since this thread is from 23.01.2011 (yes 2011)...Voodu and his guys dont have to fear that something will happen :) we all can play like a jerk and hf :) (and the rumor, that someone was muted from a mod because of loot stealing cant be true too, what would happen if that would be true....we dont have enough mods to handle that) ps: golden rule, emanuel kant...ah forget it windmill cya The elements are my allies. The dead are my servants. And fear...will be my closest friend. Deutscher Global Channel "/global 4745" Last edited by wisdorin#1020 on Jan 30, 2013, 3:07:45 PM

" +1 to everything this are FACTS :) When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

" Facts actually have to be 100% true for them to be considered facts. Simply agreeing with someones like minded point of view does not make it a fact. He does make a good point about loot hacks. But simply put, pick it was not a huge problem for alot of players back in D2. Only for people who grouped with bots in Baal runs. And as it stands pick it is not a problem at AALL in current POE. |

The looting thread in a nutshell.
The loot on the ground is not your loot Fair point. It's 'the party''s loot. Yet, during the time it has my name on it, it's mine. The loot system decided that I was the only one supposed to be able to have it. When the timer runs off, everyone can pick it up. The question is: is that a good thing? Is it good to let people rush for the loot which was reserved for me just because the system allows you to do so? Aka: is it ok to be a jerk who abuse the system to get the loot someone else wasn't able to get in the small given amount of time? Some people are saying yes because... well, they don't care, and some people are saying no because of bad behaviours this can cause and the thing being just unfair. It's not ninja loot if you had your name on it and it it WAS reserved for you Do not be a hypocrite. If you stand right next to an item, clicking it like crazy hoping that the guy who this item belongs to won't reach it in time, it is ninja loot. If the guy doesn't want it and just continue its way, then fine, it's not ninja loot. But don't say that trying to pick an item as soon as it is available isn't ninja loot, especially if the guy with its name on it runs like crazy for it. It would makes you a complete jerk. You can kick people from your party Only if I am the party leader. Plus, kicking people isn't a solution. It's just a bad way to get rid of some people, not to get rid of the problem itself. It's also a good way to strengthen bad behaviors between players. Which is stupid if you are going to play in a party. "Hey, we want a competitive co-op game!". Makes no sense. Be better at clicking! The fact that you're good at it doesn't solve the problem. It doesn't change the fact that people are just running for loot, bitching on chat because someone stole something, kicking team-mates, etc... instead of enjoying the game. "I'm good, you're bad, deal with it" never solved anything. Also, stop being so selfish. I don't want you to ruin what I'm enjoying! That's why a vast majority of the people complaining about the awful loot system are suggesting options, and not a radical change, in order for every player to be able to enjoy the game as they like it. Unfortunatly, some guys are still against this idea, even if it won't affect them. There is no real reason for that. They just want to be the only ones to enjoy the game, because they can. Just refers to the previous point. Just go play something else if you don't like it! People who argue against the current system like the game. That's why they are trying to make it better: because they don't want to leave it. If every person who wanted to make something better is asked to leave the game or accept it as it is, this forum wouldn't have a "Suggestions" part where people can express themselves. It's not a major issue, stop crying about it It is. The looting system of a H&S is a really big part of it. It's probably as important as the combat or the skill system. If you can't play in parties (pub) without suffering from this system, then the system is bad and all the concerns about it should be taken with a lot of attention. Again, if you're ok about it, good for you. But it's not the case for everyone... and if you don't care about others, then your posts worth nothing (and you're not better in that regard). I don't have any other arguments but I don't want you to be happy with this game because I'm ok with it myself, so I'll keep repeating the same bullsh*t over and over again! Welcome to +375 pages thread, dumbass. |
