Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" *face palm*.. I just don't give a rats ass who gets what. Also, I don't steal other players items and people never steal my items either... Simply because im sane enough to understand that ALL items on the ground belong to NO ONE!!.. See how easy that is. Reality is perception. Once you get that through you head that items on the ground are FREE FOR ALL theres nothing really to get upset about. Last edited by Vooodu#7002 on Jan 29, 2013, 1:00:41 PM

" The real fact is this is how it's supposed to be, public parties are supposed to be free for all kind of stuff, where everybody tries to grab everything, based on their morale. If you invite friends to a party, do you think they'll steal items? |

GGG should add instanced loot to the default league only, for what I can see most ppl complaining dont even play on Hardcore anyway.

" No, it doesn't make any sense at all. I don't expect you to understand. For other readers: The argument that if they try to bring in as many people as possible the game will become bad, and thus loot options are bad just because alot of people want it, does not follow logically. Simply because adding loot options does not equal "try to bring in as many people", and therefor you can't say that one is bad because the other is bad. Simple logic. Sorry to confuse you Vooodu, this part of the post was not meant for you to read. |

None of my friends play this game, so what, am I screwed? That's just stupid.
Say what you want. The intention behind the system is clear. But this is still a BETA stage game so you really can't claim that the development of the system is complete already. I see it like this: just give the people the option and everyone will be happy. That's all. Let them choose. Just like every player gets to choose between hardcore and sofcore or PvP and non PvP playing. |

" Same here :-( " I agree |

" Really? That's just you personal opinion. I play hardcore only and don't like this nonsense. Hardcore is about your actions having consequences, about using you brain while playing. Danger of dying make playing a game much better experience. How is being ass and try to steal other persons loot hardcore? :) Maybe hardcore ass. This discussion doesn't matter that much, wait for first loot bots to popup. It will be very soon and playing in multiplayer without them will be not pleasant experience. Then GGG won't have any option but fix this nonsense. |

Anyways, started skimming the thread to see if the devs had posted since page 54 and didn't see anything between there and page 270 where I joined in. Would be nice for a update since that was a year and a half ago.
Anyways, realised a couple things while skimming (also, I noticed a few Diamonds back Full FFA, so if I ever finish the stats, there ARE going to be a few in that category. I was kinda surprised. They're still in the minority thought) 1) The argument keeps coming up that "once your name is off the item, it's not your item anymore, it's only your item when it's in your backpack." And I got this weird mental image. Like, imagine you have your name on your underwear. And after time, it just wears away and your name isn't on it anymore. Is it now anyone's underwear? Ownership has no permanency? 2) The most common FFA arguments are - If you don't like it at all, leave. - If you don't like it when others do it, kick them. - If you don't like being put at risk of it, play alone. The arguments are anti-social on anti-social. |

" Unless they are actually stealing your loot from your inventory or stash its not stealing. Items on the ground are not yours....Only the timer is is yours. Anyone who cant get that through their thick skulls will probably spend the majority of their time complaining. Example being this thread. I wonder how many of you complainers have read the 1st post? And yet,, still assume loot with timers are actually your property. Also, the whole. 'OMG BOTS WITH PICK IT'.... Fail to understand the use of the KICK button. |

Some of the FFA supporters in here appear to think that people who don't like FFA are casuals who are better suited for games like D3.
That is completely wrong. We are over here because we want the more hardcore game. I don't want a dumbed down easy game and neither do the people in this thread. Even those of you who like FFA, if you really think about it objectively you might come to realize that FFA doesn't not make the core game more hardcore. Its simply a pvp playstyle. It focuses on speed and clicking skills. Is that really what this game is about? Does the deep customization/itemization/skill tree have anything at all to do with speedy clicking skills and camping loot drops?? These things don't go together. How can a player be a casual when it comes to the looting system but be hardcore when it comes to the rest of the game? It makes no sense. FFA should have nothing at all to do with private parties. When your with friends you should definitely be able to choose your looting options. There is just no reason not to have that. When it comes to public parties the devs can make the game how they want but they really need to address these issues. 1) The playerbase is EXTREMELY confused by the intentions of the devs with this system. Everyone thinks that the timers are there to give them enough time to get all of there drops. That is not at all why the timer is there. This is a big problem. 2) There are far too many complaints about this. I don't know how this could possibly be worth it to them. If this game was made as a single player experience (which is what Chris alluded to) Then why is another looting option a problem? If so many people are avoiding public parties altogether how could all of this possibly be worth it? "The feel of the game" is the dumbest argument ever for this.
