FFA is better for the atmosphere GGG is trying to portray, PvPvE.

there is no atmosphere in looting there is? but ok we have already accepted that FFA is there for a hardcorish feeling we all accepted that (even when even that is debatable..but whatever)

It is up to you if you want to make friends with other exiles or make enemies.

no debate here it is up to me...but it isnt' up to me to "gamble" my drops in any new group is it?

Worldbreaker wrote:

FFA is better because in a group setting that rare bow you needed was allocated to someone else and that mace that dropped does you no good.

well this is a statement that fails to itself...cause with the ffa in the first place i am entitled to ALL loots that drop

Worldbreaker wrote:

FFA speeds the game along instead of having people sit on top of a drop and stop fighting for the full length of the timer.

another statement that fails to itself...people with the ffa are more eager to stop fighting to click faster the loot cause...else someone else will do it...

Those are some of the pros for FFA.

sorry ? there is only 1 fact and 2 statements that contracting to itself...

Also I would like to suggest removing names from drops and just having them on a global 1 to 2 second timer so the entitlement issue is fixed, if timers are to stay.

like the problem is the name...
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

Optional roll system

-Removes inital random assignment timers
-Valuables start a (5) second countdown timer when first person clicks on it.
-If other players click the item before timer expires, the system will roll for them and winner declared. Tie broken by who clicked item faster.

This system would improve the public party experience and bring me out of hermit-mode.

It would also slow gameplay to a crawl :(

How do you figure? You click and move on. There is no waiting around for timer to expire as in current system.
But the actual System are brocken.

I must play in group for better and more Loot, but the winner are the Itemgrabber?
Try your own build, rerolling again and again, more fun than Maps.

Or... we could simply decide which of the instanced items we're going to take and move on...

Click-rolls will retain all the problems of the current system while requiring even more overhead to micro-manage the roll pool and allocation. Folks will still stop playing/fighting to get their option in...

So, if I have a high ping and cannot take the loot on time then I would be holding hands and the rest of your bullshit? I usually play with a 200-300 ping and most of the people have advantage in taking loot over me..
No, thank you. I won't upgrade my connection so that I can "pick up the loot on time"

The only people that are against instanced looting or extending the timers are the ones you see in your parties atm running around and taking everything they can put their hands on.

If the game really will cater to the 1 percent of the fast clickers with good ping (hardcore ARPG you called them) then good luck for them making profit out of this 1 percent

I agree, the 200-300 ping, topped off by the fact that i had to make a support/totem witch build since i cant instantly retreat or use potions when i get hit hard, people are always getting dibs on my stuff.

Also dont know if it has been stated but the loot highlighting on the ground need some work.
items can have their tag spread out a whole screen from where the item actually is and the background is dark so it covers mobs really easily, but you always have to have it it up often to keep an eye out for stuff....

Another Problem (still ignoring the possibility to abbuse this system with ice wall or the players hitbox)....

Think about it...there are not soo many peepz working for the support of this game, look in the bugreport Forum and you will see how much "questions" they got in some minutes...And now think about it, how much futures complains will be added because of "stolen loot"...

and btw, there is a point in the late game...when you got your 6linkd and the most of your gear...you wont pick up every rare and such, but its hard to get to this point without playing in publics or making friends, it can be boring to grind the hole way solo...

and yes most of the pro ffa´s are only playing in closed and private groups with 100+ friends from cb on their fl ...

Isnt there a easy method to make a Poll about this?`...yeah i know unique accounts and so on, but this problem would be for both, and would be negated with enough asked persons?...(statistics is long ago ;)

A. Briefly explain your background in programming to give that some validity.
B. 347 pages of opinions seems pretty social to me.

A.Their is a line of code that controls the base loot timer. It currently reads something like loot_timer=0.5; The devs open their source code go to that line of code and change it to loot_timer=5.0; Problem solved, less players feel frustrated and system is preserved.

When the Devs are creating the next hardcore week long race they set loot_timer=0.5 and now the group of players that really like the system have an environment to play in.

You can't be serious.... If you honestly think that is what their loot algorithm looks like.... I don't even know what to say to you.

Did I say that my example was their loot algorithm or did I say a line of code that controls the base loot timer?

I try to be clear an concise when I type. What made you think I was quoting the full algorithm?

The most important question is
are the devs still reading this topic? or are we just talking to ourselves here?
