What Will Happen When the Keepers League Ends
|
New breach is absolute trash, do you guys even play your own game? It's un-engaging and extremely unrewarding. It's one of the worst concepts you guys have come up with in several years. There is a reason why the player count dipped ridiculously fast. It's amazing that you're still going to shove it down our throats when you have all of the data showing otherwise. Maybe you should stop and think for a second, instead of trying to say, "the community doesn't know what they're talking about".

If the tree is nerfed and points have to be spent into the tree; it would make no sense for anyone not to invest into said mechanic during ANY league start, as in mandatory; if it can still reward anything remotely close to what it could in 3.27. Even if it is nerfed by 50%, or 75%, or 100%. It would still be better than anything else currently in the game by far.
And you people defending the tree are so funny by claiming that "you can still make profit"... It's not about profit, it's about the game's progression curve. Why should Path of Exile's progression curve all of a sudden be sped up, by A LOT ?! Why should alternative crafting methods be nullified because of one new broken mechanic ? Alternative farms be nullified because of one new broken mechanic ? League start is the most fun and special time in POE, shortening that timeframe makes no sense, as well as shortening overall player retention (because no matter what anyone says, if you give players amazing items, if someone has less things to chase and upgrade to, they will play less). Claiming that it's only about "profit" is so short sighted and disingenuous, makes me sick. It's about a game, that has systems in place, multiple crafting mechanics and a set progression curve that has stood the test of time and proven to be successful, oriented towards a certain demographic of players who don't want things to be handed to them on a silver platter like most other games of this generation ; all of it now getting trashed into the bin because of a new added mechanic that couldn't be more antithetical to the core essence of a loot-based ARPG (throwing insane items at players for basically nothing right after league start). [Removed by Support] Again, casual players are more than welcome, and we'll accept and help them; but the game shouldn't be dumbed down into a mere shell of what it once used to be in order to cater to them. And casual players shouldn't ask for it to be. I would never join another game or community and ask for it to change for my personal needs and wants, it's both pure insanity, selfishness and ignorance. I shouldn't even have to type all this, it's common sense. The genesis tree is completely broken and awards overpowered items for almost no efforts right after league start. Couple that with the addition of Faustus... and people are decked out in the best bases, 6 links, fractures and T1 rares mere days following league start. Even with a big nerf it would still be broken, hence mandatory, hence still flooding the market with godlike items asap. The nature of the mechanic (the provisioning wombgift part of the tree) is just too strong. It's DUMB Affliction, Necropolis and now Keepers are the worst leagues ever. Loot-shower fest, chase uniques too available, stacked decks and valdo boxes are a flawed design, and now the genesis tree handing out overpowered items hence invalidating several farms and crafting avenues. " [Removed by Support] Your ' silver platter' argument is adorable. You talk about the progression curve as if it were a sacred religious text and not a set of numbers GGG tweaks every three months to keep the game from stagnating. It’s hilarious that you view 'friction' and 'tedium' as a personality trait. Newsflash: spending 48 hours straight farming Essences doesn't make you a genius; it just means you have a lot of free time. You claim you’d never ask a game to change for your needs, yet here you are, throwing a tantrum and demanding the removal of a mechanic because it doesn't fit your specific definition of 'fun.' You aren't defending the game’s 'past'; you’re just a gatekeeper terrified that if the 'plebeians' get 6-links and T1 bases, [Removed by Support] [Removed by Support] Last edited by ShaunB_GGG#0000 on Feb 17, 2026, 11:02:57 PM

Tree is bad for the game. Game is boring when you have nothing to work for after a week of printing top tier items. Its nice to GRIND for your GEAR in GAMES. Are we changing the name to Gifting Gear Games?

" Imagine your company is called Grinding Gear Games, but you don't want players to be Grinding Gear. Nerfing base loot drops really makes your company name laughable. |

" What some clearly fail to understand is that it has absolutely nothing to do with gatekeeping any specific category of player; it's about gatekeeping EVERYONE the same, and the effect it has on the game as a whole. For the good of the game, exactly as it has been done since its inception. Part of the recipe that contributed to its success, the desire and need to grind. A specific progression curve and difficulty. There is no discrimination here. Any competent game designer knows that players are their own worst enemy, and that when given the choice the latter will almost always choose the path of least resistance. It is a game designer's job (and duty) to restrict players, by introducing and maintaining friction. Gatekeeping is what any well designed game does, in fact every single game in the world gatekeeps by definition, or else everyone would have access to everything instantly and there wouldn't be a game to begin with. You don't start a game of monopoly by having houses and hotels on every street or there would be no point in playing (and if there is a point in that for some, it just shortens the game by definition); the same way you shouldn't start a playthrough of Path of Exile by being handed insane items. There's a reason as to why Keepers league had the worst retention in Path of Exile history. Speeding up gear acquisition as early as immediately following a league start, as well as it simultaneously impacting and invalidating several farms and crafting methods as a direct byproduct, has dire consequences on both short-term retention (how much time a player will put into a single character); as well as long-term player psyche (future replayability, that being a direct result of the fun had previously). And to clarify, poor retention directly correlates to players having less fun overall, and vice-versa. This game is all about grinding, it is the core principle and pillar of a game of this type. I'm afraid advocating against such an incontestable fact would be asinine in essence, at best... Affliction, Necropolis and now Keepers are the worst leagues ever. Loot-shower fest, chase uniques too available, stacked decks and valdo boxes are a flawed design, and now the genesis tree handing out overpowered items hence invalidating several farms and crafting avenues.

" What you perceive as hysteria is people sounding the alarm, of large changes that might turn them away from the game they love. Plus you can't monopolize the early and mid game crafting, it's to large.. but you can ruin it, take it away or greatly disincentivize it. It's been this way the whole league, plus trading of items was dropped on top of that completely bottoming out low to mid tier item prices. There's basically no value in picking up rares anymore, and when there's no value in picking up rares from running maps, that seems like a large amount of potential fun to be had, ripped right out of the game. Now if it was for ssf characters, I could get behind it. But as a trade league mechanic, where players actually want to trade what they find, and see if they get that magic combination of mods together on a rare item from a really crazy map.. then we have lost it. ..and given it away to the initial burst of players that have plenty of time to play without the considerations of rl events. Lets keep drops interesting for everyone, not just target farmers and people with far to much time on their hands. Last edited by TwistedTrip#5344 on Feb 18, 2026, 12:55:47 AM
