Who is this event for?

How many times now have they pushed "the vision" only to be met with bitter disappointment?
Will they learn from these mistakes and abandon the vision?

Sadly I don't think so, but only time will tell. Maybe they'll finally get 2 completely separate dev teams on both games now that they're hiring more people, and the vision can finally be isolated only to PoE 2.

All this event shows is just how out of touch they are with PoE 1 players and the community in general. They could have literally done nothing and gotten a free W, normal game with Phrecia event and everyone would have loved it. But no, they just had to add the random gauntlet and enrage nobody asked for. Its just sad and disappointing.

If they intend on adding this gauntlet nonsense to every event from now on, I'm skipping them all lol

The “vision” is what has guided the game to where it stands today, so abandoning it would be a bold move by GGG.
It is also one of the reasons this event exists, because they understand what their community is asking for, even if the outcome may feel bitter to the louder minority. If there is one thing we have learned over time, it is that GGG ultimately knows what is best for their game.

I'm enjoying it. Can understand it's not for everyone. I think it's good they run events like this though, certainly better than nothing while the league is still a way off.

I probably would of preferred the event with just phrecia and not additional modifiers or bosses from gauntlet. It seems inbetween a gauntlet and regular league difficult, which is probably what some people don't want. It's fine though. Main thing I think is they should of made the event more noticeable, by having it listed in character selection, like they normally do, and may have got some more players. Buffing most the phrecia ascendancies was a good idea, to make it not too dour.

I don't know much about trade league or the economy, but playing a bit of this event and keepers, I feel like the keepers crafting system is not great for trade league progression, which is already pretty lopsided even before this. 6-links and a lot of other gear become vendor sometime on the first day, and there seems to be a pretty steep curve in the tradeable items. There's not much in between value items for trading between 1c and 1 DIV.

I guess players that aren't happy with it do want the event but just wanted something different. I would like if they threw in some endless delve events, been some time since they've done one.

Even the PVP event they ran a few years back, I think it was not great, but still interesting enough to do every now and then.

Let me ask you this: what do you base this comment on? What bitter disappointment?

Because the game is FLOURISHING right now, vision and all. There are more players than ever playing for longer. The retention numbers are sky high compared to the past, the peak numbers are sky high and fairly regularly set new records, there are dud leagues here and there but OVERALL the "vision" has saved this game from being another footnote in the annals of arpg history.

So again, where is the bitter disappointment and mistakes? Anything more than your OWN personal feelings? The echo chamber of the non-majority that only come to the forums to complain while most other people are playing and enjoying the game silently?

Sure, there were things I didn't like and there are currently things I don't like. But overall this game is miles above any of its competition and that is precisely because of "the vision".

In reality though, do you even know what that vision is or are you just parroting a popular phrase? Can you describe it to me? Because I do know what it is, or rather....what it WAS. For all intents and purposes, the CW "vision" from 7+ years ago (already greatly changed from the CW vision from 2013) was abandoned LONG ago. Ruthless would have been the main game mode if they followed THAT original vision. PoE 2 exists now pretty much BECAUSE PoE 1 didn't follow the vision.

People like you keep bringing up "The Vision" like its some catch-all for anything "hard" in PoE.....when it really isn't. This was a very very uber specific GOAL for the game that has long since been adjusted, changed, and downright abandoned in favor of almost the exact OPPOSITE design.

Here's the ORIGINAL vision:

Count the number of ways this has been abandoned (unfortunately)

Hell....CW isn't even involved and hasn't been involved in many years.

I even forgot to say......Phrecia is BUILT UPON rejected content: content that was deemed unfit for the game.

You talk of "the vision"...yet we are playing with things that, no matter what that vision happens to be, DIDN'T MEET THE CRITERIA lol!
